Yes, my AMD 64 3400+, Gig pc2700 RAM, and overclocked 9800 PRO (flashed and OC'ed to an 9800 XT!!!) is running Oblivion like a turd. It has crashed 4 times in 20 minutes also (1 System freeze prob. not Oblivion specific and 3 crash to desktops).   :nono: :nono: :nono:

Do you have enough cooling on that OC'd card? If you're getting random system freezes anyway, I wouldn't be too quick to blame the game. Especially since it's "running it like a turd" which means the card is being pushed pretty hard.
Scale down your settings and see if it's the same way.

Arctic Silver and a Zalman cooler. Yes, I play games on this all the TIME w/no lockups/crashes. I bumped the case when it froze, so that might be that one, but that was the last prob. The crashes were before that. Trust me, I am not getting heat issues.

Already did. I even downclocked tha card.

tru, and I expect you'll be trying to push it a little to see what your system can take; I know I would (and will), particularly if I thought I had a decent OC'd graphics card.
But if I want reliability, I know I'm going to have to turn some of the detail down.

They're probably working on patch already.

Hmmm. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Seems to be doing jjust fine. Settings up pretty high @ 1024x768 and gettingg 30 fps. No more crashes. Might have had a borked install. Sorry to have alarmed anyone unneccesarily.:erg:

Perhaps it's not too hopeless then!

For me, too.
I can see the main screen fine.
Sound works great.
I can see the cinematics fine, as well as Picard's intro.
And when it gets to the first screen, I can see the Race Options window, but the rest of the cell is just white, highlighted by an occasional outline of an object. And my eyes in the character selection screen are all rainbowy. As is the person that starts talking to me. It's like a blindingly white gay pride dungeon.
It's not a bloom effect. I have a rather oldish vid card, but it still should be fine, I thought. 128meg GeForce4 Ti4600. I'm running it at 800 x 600, even though it recommended.
I just slogged through pages and pages on the official Elder Scrolls Forums and finally (
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=275641]found a thread that addressed my issue). My graphics card is not SM 2.0 compliant,
which I'm embarrassed to admit I have no idea what that means (wate wate I just remembered). According the Minimun Specs on the box, my system should be fine. But my card isn't listed in the Supported Cards list. Pisser. Well, off to research a new graphcis card, I guess.
(So, we turned HTML off in the last 8ish months, eh? :) )
