Ape Commandos. Total bastards.
You know the ones Im talking about. Think they first show up when youre at Max Chens place - where youve been followed from Maggie Chows apartment. Those assholes witht the cannons on their arms...
So far, Ive managed well enough sneaking past em. All previous attempts at takin em on mano a mano left me real hurt or real dead.
What I need to know is this:
Is there a quick, quiet, easy way to off em? Im shitting sweat here people. Im more for a stealthy kill. Dont like this gun blazin shit.

Those commandos are just about the scariest-looking things I've ever seen, but they can be dealt with. Try using the sniper rifle or sawed-off (sabot rounds only!). It may take 2 hits to drop 'em. In the Versalife bldg I used my leg speed aug to run past them and then to hide in the dark room with the cubicles, then I sniped away at their heads as they looked around for me. I also once used the riot prod to KO an unsuspecting commando. If you use a firearm to do the deed, you might want to crouch behind something, pop up and fire a round at the head, then get down pronto. They didn't seem to be very inquisitive after I vanished into the darkness. Good luck!

I hate those guys. Namely because during the attack at The Lucky Money they broke a window to the small store next door and the cops blamed ME for it! even after I took out the bastard!...I tried several times but couldn't ever get them to not be pissed at me....so: three dead cops...alas...at least I got the loot from the store for my troubles.

I didn't have to gun ay down in Hong Kong, Lucky Money the "bouncers"

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif will take care of them, as will the police (Don't fire back at the commandos!!! Be an innocent civ!). Make sure to loot the bodies though for biocells. In the facility I just ran by one. If I do decide to attack them, my heavily modded asault rifle with headshots brings them down fast. That thing is great once you've put 4+ recoil stoppers and accuracy increasers on it.

Ambush them. That is seriously the only tactic that I can say works well. You can use almost any weapon, as long as you can get a headshot with it. Standard pistol (not stealth pistol, it's too inacurate IMO), assault rifle, and auto-shotgun all work well as long as I start killing them before they start killing me. Sniper rifle can work too, but a headshot with it is not a guarenteed kill, and it's rate of fire is slow, so only if you're pretty far away so they can't use those autocannons on you. If they notice you, I would go with assault rifle or auto-shotgun, unless you've already got in a headshot with the pistol, then duck around a corner and keep the crosshairs at head level and finsih them of when they come around. But if they have noticed you before you've hit them at all, use the auto-shotgun if they're at close to medium range. Turn on ballistic protection (if you have it) and strafe around a lot, those autocannons are nasty. If they're pretty far away and they notice you, use the assault rifle. I know that this was long and rambling, but it works.

As a character who was a Master with pistol weapons and Untrained with low-tech weapons, I either,
-snuck up behind them and zapped them with the prod (inconsistent, usually effective, but sometimes not)
-or shot them twice in the head with the stealth pistol (very effective if your accuracy is high enough, and the pistol fires fast enough to make the second shot not difficult to make. they're usually still flinching from the first. if they do the raised arms psycho thing you're dead unless you have some firepower and cover.)
I couldn't be of much help in the Lucky Money. One of several times my pistol character had to wimp out. I tried crouching behind the overturned table (nice touch

Oh, and I was Advanced in Pistol and Advanced in Rifle for the method I talked about, though it obviuosly worked just as well when I was Master in both.

If you can surprise them, then the Dragon's Tooth from behind is usually a one strike kill even on untrained. Damn I love that weapon - it may occupy four slots but it is a great tool it :-
-opens crates fast.
-provides emergency light without using BE. (The thing glows nicely.)
-Is stealthy for quick quiet kills.
But never try tangling with a Commando face to face with the 'tooth. They dance around too much and will gun you down quickly.

Damn straight, Banksie. If you're clever enough not to get into a circle-strafe fight, the Dragon's Tooth is the first and last word in anti-personnel combat. Just don't try it on a bot or a big daddy karkian, and remember to run when you drop an MIB...

For Anti-commando work, I prefer to snipe them (I prefer this method for everything, natural camper that I am)
But I've also found the Assault Shotgun to be an effective deterrant at close range.
But I don't usually waste Sabot shells on them, I like to keep them for dropping 'bots, three standard buckshot rounds to the head tends to make 'em think again.
Either that or the standard pistol, it hurts more than the stealth.
