This guy, being Jim Sterling at Destructoid: (
http://www.destructoid.com/videogame-fans-need-to-shut-up-about-everything-164476.phtml)
While I certainly grow weary of the usual, "Bioshock sucks, Thief DS sucks, Deus Ex IW sucks, anything from Eidos Monty is going to suck," I think I'm going to have to side with the fans here. Even though the fans he's talking about seem to be far worse than we'll ever get here, I think the arrogant one is the guy venting into an article on his very fine website about how much these folks personally offend him.
Or maybe it's just my usual TTLG elitism.

Obviously WE know better than the fans of those other games. ;)

I got all the way to the fifth paragraph before the usual fallacies overwhelmed me. Way to go, angry Internet dude.

That's jim sterling for you. This guy is a sham, and he's not very good at the thing.

Yeah old farts who don't like new takes on things can be irritating, even when you are one. But in this world are (at leat mostly) grown people who will come out in vehement defense of the latest Mario or Zelda game from the slightest slur.
Not in an ironic way.
That's like defending the honour of teddy bears past the age of 6.
In a world where that goes on, grumpy purist bile is practically a duty.

Is it elitist of me to not read any of this article because there's no fucking left margin in the layout?

"Nobody typifies this more than Fallout fanboys, who threw a fitful tantrum over Fallout 3. Their problem? The fact that it wasn't 100% exactly like the original Fallout."
I think there are plenty of issues with the Fallout fan community, and the fact that this guy opts to erect this ridiculous strawman rather than addressing the nuances realities means I can't bear to finish the article.

I'm not a fan of Jim Sterling's writing, as he's almost always on sanctimonious dickbag mode even as far as his reviews are concerned.
I'd take his rant more seriously if it weren't written in exactly the same way that the people he's complaining about write theirs. The Sonic writeup dethy linked to clinches it - it's tongue-in-cheek and fun, but whining hyperbole is definitely his style.
