Norman To send the vase up, you just flip the small lever on the side of the container it's in. An alarm will go off but you don't need to worry about it if you've made sure the gates are lowered between you and the Hammer guard.

OK, here's the sequence:
I lean through the window over the journal to frob the switchbox in the room directly over the vase room. Nothing happens. I go down to the vase room and unlock the lockbox next to the Hammerite. Nothing happens. I frob the switch on the pedestal that has the vase in it. The vase goes up to the above room, the alarm goes off, the grate lowers in front of the room's door, and the Hammerite comes after me. The grate in the ceiling is still closed. I tried the exact same sequence except with unlocking the lockbox first and then frobbing the switchbox on the above floor. No difference.
I'm not sure what you mean about "leaning through the window over the journal"?? You need to go into the room and unlock the lockbox on the wall but don't touch the vase at that point. Go back up through the hole under the elevator and go into the room where you frob a lever up by the ceiling. (This was unlocked by the lockbox in the lower room.) A console raises and you can go through into a room with two control consoles and the rest is blocked off by gates. The lever on the one that's labeled "Security door" needs to be flipped once. The other lever, which controls the gates that block off the Hammer guard in the vase room, for some reason, needs to be flipped so that you raise the gates and then lower them again. You can see them come up and then go back down out in the blocked off part of the room. Then, go back down below the elevator, flip the lever on the side of the vase container, ignore the alarm and go back up to the room with the two consoles. That's the way it worked for me, anyway.

Thanks Nightwalker. The switchbox I frobbed by "leaning through the window over the journal" was one of the control consoles you list in your response. The Security Door Control one.

I seem to be having the same problem as "Lightningline" had, I can't get "Garret Loader" to recognize "What A Drag" as a Thief 2 mission.... It says "GALERE.zip - Found to be for the game [T1]"????
I've tried downloading it several times.....but always the same thing!!!!
I have all of the necessary essentials and I've never had any problems with any other missions????
How did you manage to get it working "Lightningline"????
Thanks : donkay:confused: :tsktsk:

Firstly open up the zip file, extract the readme file and on the line that says "Game: Thief The Dark Project" (or something similar, I havent seen the readme yet) change it to be "Thief The Metal Age" save it and add it back into the zip (you can double click the file in the zip and it will open).
Then try again.
GL has 2 methods of determining what an FM is for, the readme and the missflag.str. Sometimes they contradict each other and cause a bit of confusion.
Philou is working on a few changes to this mission, one of them being correcting the game version in the readme file.

Nightwalker on 19/2/2006 at 15:52
Where are you, ShadowWolf? Have you got the Hand of Glory yet? You need it to get into that area.
ShadowWolf421 on 19/2/2006 at 18:32
Yes ma'am I used it
on a pedestal
I'm in the room with the Hammerite guy and the lock on the wall. The vase is in
here too and when I frob its lever the alarm goes off.
I'm trying to do what you said to do in the previous posts but I cannot find the consoles you are talking about. the only one i found was the one that operates the lift. under this lift is the way to the room with the Hammerite
