Ok, I think I can finally explain the vase sequence.
Go down to the vase room and unlock the lockbox next to the Hammerite. Go back up through the lift gap and into the room with the journal on the table and a barred window through which you can see the room directly over the vase room. When facing the non-functioning control console here, there should now be a switch to its right which was exposed by unlocking the lockbox. Throw the switch and the control console rises allowing you access to the next room. The actual control consoles are in there.
thank you Norman Druart! no i have one problem, the mission ends when i go down the aldder near agnes, even though "free agness" isnt checkd off. is this supposed to do this?
Nightwalker on 20/2/2006 at 15:17
No, that shouldn't happen, ShadowWolf. This mission is full of small bugs and that sounds like one of them. You aren't supposed to enter the room that way. You are teleported in from the room with the switches that control the bars that block the Hammer guard's area in the vase room below the elevator. At that point, you run down the stairs while your glowing companion occupies the guards. You don't really "free" her, though. You just walk into the cell with her and the mission ends.

Well, I finished it with 1050 loot. I was a very entertaining but slightly frustrating experience. The architecture and details were lots of fun. After beating my brains out on a hard part, I usually found an easy solution later.
I got into a strange sequence at the end that seems like it could be a bug. First, I stumbled across Agnes before I had found the hand of glory. The "Find Agnes" objective checked off. Then I found may way into the hand of glory room, using two different routes (reloading in between):
1. Followed the cross-bow guard through the gate to the stairway.
2. Used the kitchen gong approach described by Nightwalker to get through the large wood door.
In both cases, the way into the hand of glory area closed itself immediately after I had entered. I could find no way out to go back to the rest of the map, if I had needed to. Am I missing something?

Do you mean you're inside the area where you find the Hand and can't get back out? Or do you mean you couldn't get back inside the area where you found the Hand after leaving?
For the first, you can reopen the big wooden door by the kitchen. There's a secret elevator in Lady Jo's chapel, which I presume you found. Go outside and around a wall. Slash a banner and there's a lever that opens a door. If you follow that route, you'll come to a room where you can flip a lever to reopen the door then take another route that will have you end up in a small unused room above a ladder that is near the Chapel entrance.

Thanks, Nightwalker.:) I meant I was in there and couldn't get out, although in this case I did not really need to get out. Your spoiler did the job. I had looked under there without slashing the banner, but I did not see the switch. I should not be so sensitive to property damage.;)

What painting has the door opened when you frob the switch in the guards room? I'm playing on Hard and can't find that door. I found all 3 secrets and
found Agnes...took care of her guards but need to get her out of the cell.
Thanks:confused:
Nightwalker on 25/2/2006 at 23:07
It doesn't open a painting. You need to walk right through the painting near the top of the stairs. The door the switch opened is behind it.

I finally got the guard to drink the wine and fall asleep....Don't try doing it in the dark. I had put out all the torches and he wouldn't come out of his area. Once I left all the torches and lights on he finally came out and helped himself. Thanks again. Coreyb2

I need some help. So far, I've not found the hand of glory but I did find Agnes.
Agnes issue:
I have no idea how to get Agnes out--how do I defeat the 3 guards?
Where is the hand of Glroy?
I've been through the painting on top of the stairs, managed to fall into the trap by that other thief,
but that's all. I've not found the kitchen everyone talks about either. Help please?
