What are some good Playstation 2 games? (preferably action, but any genre is fine) - by io organic industrialism

I don't care how meticulously composed it was, and I admit a track or two caught my ear, but one of the instruments it's performed with(Probably very old and very traditional and who cares) was simply too fucking loud. Either you lowered the volume and couldn't hear the rest, or you could hear the rest... while your ears bled.
I guess you must be playing an entirely different game, then. And if you're not, refer to point 3 in my post.

As for Okami not being a platformer, I am seriously at a loss of words here.
Funny how there are so many after that sentence, then.
Let me get this straight: according to you, a platformer has to
1) Be in 3D
2) Contain Jumping Around A Lot
3) Have miniquests for questionable rewards
4) Let you gain more advanced skills as it progresses
I'm not even going to think about the rest of your post until you realise how mind-bogglingly stupid your definition is.

Shadow of the Colossus
Shadow of the Colossus
Shadow of the Colossus
Fuck that game was amazing. I think you really need to have an appreciation for the artistic value of games to enjoy it. If you don't or you're in the mood for some action then it's probably the worst game to play, but I personally loved every second of it. Even just riding around the environment and shooting down birds was mindblowing for me.

I think that says more about you than the game.

What? That I can enjoy the game's extremely scenic and mindblowingly atmospheric environment?
I really think the game was a huge step forward in how it was able to convey emotions to the player. The amount of emotion that a typical game cutscene with heavily dramatic music and overacted vocals might attempt to convey can't even begin to measure up to the amount of emotion that you can feel just looking at your character standing in a desolate field in this game.

Citation needed, because Red Faction is absolutely fucking mediocre.
dethtoll: I`ve not played the pc version so I cant comment on it, but the ps2 version of the first game is excellent. Played that game from start to finish and really enjoyed it. The game gets really fricken hard towards the end.
The second game however is definately mediocre. I`ll 100% agree with you on that one. The series was alot better on Mars than Earth. Thats the entire reason for the name Red Faction in the first place.

mmm, no... The controls are finicky, the graphics are drab and the level design is bland and uninspired. About halfway through I met a game-ending bug, I quit playing and never bothered to restart. The game is
okay, but I'd be hard-pressed to award it excellence.

More specifically 3D platformer. Jak and Daxter. Ratchet and Clank.(Super?) Mario Sunshine. Soul Reaver. Psychonauts(oooh yes I went there). Okami. All the same.

Nothing much to add...:
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus
Okami
Silent Hill series
Fatal Frame series
- way more scary than SH and RE
Forbidden Siren
Dark Chronicle
- aka Dark Cloud 2 i think in ntsc territory: cell shaded RPG/world building sim, but I've only just begun
Shin Megami Tensei
- weirdo RPG series, I'm playing it's entry "Lucifer's Call"
SOS The Final Escape
- In a big city still crumbling after an earthquake due to aftershocks. You gotta get out while finding out what's "reeeally" happening... Though based on common videogame ingredients (action/exploring/conspiracy stuff) it's still quite unique.
I myself should check Odin Sphere...

And this invalidates the stupidity of your post how, exactly?
EDIT: Soul Reaver? A platformer? I've never played it, but... good golly.

All the same compared to what? You couldn't have picked games that are more different from eachother. These bees 3d yes, but comparing Okami to Jack and Daxter or Mario Sunshine? Are you sure you shouldn't charging padded walls?
