What are some good Playstation 2 games? (preferably action, but any genre is fine) - by io organic industrialism

Hmm. io, have you tried Puzzle Quest, then? It's been on Steam for a while and just recently been ported to the PS2. It's an RPG mixed with a puzzling element pretty much like Bejeweled, and it's quite fun.
Black's quite good, yes, and I can see how it would gain from a mouse and keyboard combo. Be warned though, it's pretty short.
The PS2 isn't really a haven for shooters, but the moderately good ones are Project Snowblind, Psi-Ops, and maybe Timesplitters. Your mileage may vary on those, though. There's also the aforementioned Resident Evil 4 - it was hyped to the heavens, but was actually a pretty well done survival horror game that deserved the attention it got.
Unfortunately, I haven't really played any Marble Madness or Rally games on the PS2, so I wouldn't know where to point you for those.
Also, a note about Psychonauts: the first half hour of it is pretty bland; I know I was almost put off from playing it because the tutorial made it seem like a moderately weird kid's game.
It's not. The game comes into its own after you jump into Sasha's head. I'm not spoiling what lies in wait, but it's all inspired after that.

Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater or Subsistence if you have the cash for it
Killzone is also pretty awesome
Soul Calibur III
Final Fantasy XII which I'm playing through at the moment.
