Just got Section 8: Prejudice on Steam for $5, seems a pretty solid budget shooter.
I was interested long time ago but then it turned out to be GFWL.

So the 4-pack is $30 on Steam. I did some math-fu and that works out to SEVEN AND ONE HALF DOLLER between four sports. Seeing as that's blind impulse purchase don't give a fuck about waiting for reviews territory, any of you guys wanna jam up and pull the trigger? PayPal our monies over and shiz. :D
So nobody wants dibs on the Renegade Ops 4-pack? Boo.
Oh well, the Christmas sale's only 4 months away.

Sulphur: if it's still on at the end of this coming week then I'm in for the win.

I kept telling myself I would hold off on Deus Ex: Human Revolution until later. But discussion from people who played the leaked press-release version, reviews from European sites (which are usually harsher), the apparent focus on the PC version by Eidos/Nixxes, and a $10 pre-order credit on Amazon, finally tipped the scale for me.
Standard PC edition ordered. Too much bullshit going on with all the various editions of the game. The extra in-game bonuses will become available to everyone later, anyway.
The harshest criticism I could find was about the stupid AI (but then that's nothing new for a Deus Ex game), shitty unavoidable boss battles, and long loading times. (Spoiler tags just in case.) Which doesn't sound like enough to keep me from enjoying the game. Even though the third-person cover mechanic and takedowns will likely ruin the immersion somewhat.

Picking this up tomorrow. Was hoping Gamespot would do a midnight release, but it seems they reserve that for fratboy fare. Which says a lot about DNF, actually.

The third-person cover would ruin the immersion if there were any point where using third-person cover was actually better than just staying in first-person the entire time. While the cover mechanic works like Brothers In Arms 3 from the standpoint of making you blind fire when you're using it, it doesn't do the "not in cover = easier for the AI to see/shoot" thing. The only benefit is situational awareness and that can be obtained entirely through the minimap-or-whatever part of your augmented hud.

Count me in. I'll be on Steam for the next few days playing DX. Hit me up there, and we'll work out a harassment policy to see if we can sucker a couple people into pitching in some cash.

Think I'm gonna go trade in some XBOX games for a copy of DNF for the 360. I have many XBOX games that I ALSO have for the PC like Invisible War and Return to Wolfenstein. There's no point in keeping two versions of these games, especially when my original XBOX is dead. Even a computer from the trash could probably run Invisible War better than the XBOX did. :)
