I've got a C2D (7600) / 560ti combo too.
Whilst some games do seem to be hampered by the CPU (I'm looking at you, Cities in Motion), others which I thought may suffer (RAGE, for example) fly. I always use my LCD's native res of 1680x1050, FWIW.

Two fans on a video card though? Is that really necessary? I would prefer a larger, single fan design. This is because most of the video cards I have had over the years began making grinding death sounds a few years after purchasing them. I cleaned them out and they were good for a wile, but they would eventually start again. Two fans just increases the chance of this sound happening sooner.
I recently also got a GT440 for my backup machine. It was only $55 and it does the one task I expected it to (play TDM) very well. I wasn't expecting this because the card is quite small and "cute". When I pulled it out of the box, I was like "This is it? This is supposed to run TDM as well as my GTX460OC?"
Sure enough, it runs great. Now I'm running the machine with the wimpier card because it uses less energy and still does everything I want very well.

"Well hello there cutie. I like your small, perfectly sized fan."
Graphics cards can be cute? Slightly worrying.

Nah, but over the past decade these things have been getting bigger and bigger. I saw a card the other day that occupies 3 slots... THREE! They have also been consuming more and more energy. We shouldn't need a huge monster to get decent performance in games. I'm not asking for 1920x1280 with 16x AA/AF... just 1280x1024 with 2 or 4 x and constant 50+ fps.

They get bigger because they have more stuff in them to do the shit we need them to do. More transistors and more VRAM means more room is needed. Also gotta have space for chokes and capacitors. Class dismissed. Get out.
Fellas today I'm buyin' Red Dead Redemption GOTY! Then I'm going to work. :(

Meanwhile I got DooM running on my Cowon D2. Notice that the D2 is about 1/50 the size of my first computer, which had no chance of running the game. Stuff should be getting smaller AND more powerful.

Sadly, this is not the Federation.

Found out that DNF is $10 on Steam now. I'm actually considering buying it. Even with shipping, you can't find a used copy for below that price... but I hope none of the money I spend goes to GB or 3DR.
