I've been gorging on fresh pesto all year cause my mom grows basil in our greenhouse (with our tomatoes as a matter of fact). She called me the other day just to tell me she was making it, even though I wasn't going home that weekend. Probably just to guilt trip me and damn it worked :(
Not too many things compare to home-grown pesto. Or any good pesto for that matter.
About the title, the answer is nothing good right now. The food's pretty shitty, but I'm looking forwards to enjoying some genuine Italian food tomorrow.

Beer is the best choice to drink with pizza, so I don't see why it wouldn't work in the crust!
I ate the first summer potatoes today, with mustard-pickled herring & boiled eggs of course, and organic beer. Yum :D

I had beer battered pancakes before.
They taste exactly the same as regular pancakes.

I've been eating thick home made roast celeriac chips (large fries to Americans I guess). Interesting, nice, but I could have just gone with parsnips which I will do next time.
Why can't I find chard anywhere this time of year?

Had pea and ham soup last night from all the frozen packs of peas I thawed since Friday.
Had a monkfish and scallop green curry after that.
This morning is cinammon scrolls for breakie and we'll go eat out somewhere on the coast for lunch.
Dinner tonight is homemade chicken pie.

Good news, I've figured out how to cobble together ingredients to make a decent sandwich. Using the fancier bread is essential. I assume that we have that there to please our "allies". Since most American's idea of bread is that cheap, bleached, crap you find in grocery stores I found it rather atypical for them to serve it here. Still, I'm glad to have it. What I made was better than your typical sub shop at least, even if it doesn't compare to what I can make using high quality ingredients at home.

Sorry for being rude, but figuring out how to make a sandwich is something that makes me say "aww".
I just made risotto con sedano, pratailo e zucchetta (my italian is shit so don't count on that), or in English risotto with celery, zucchini and champignons. It's so damn good, even more so, if you follow the golden rule of "fuck loads of parmigiano reggano".
I'm also looking forward to getting into the stuff I have growing in our backyard. That's peas, gooseberries, strawberries and various herbs. I already made a mojito with my own mint :p

First thing, I said a
decent sandwich. Big difference. Second, you have no idea what the conditions I'm working with are. Its food of such quality that it makes Taco Bell look like the Larkspur.

Impossible.
