I got a small-time streamer to play Orbiceptor and it was very interesting to see first-hand what they did and didn't have trouble with. People tend not to report the fact that they missed something relatively obvious, even when lots of people are doing it.

A new game idea I just started prototyping...

Hah. Love the aesthetic and the physics-chaos. The cloud's face is especially great. :D It's kind of a Katamari Damacy thing eh? Just fly around and soak a small town or something? Could be good!
Maybe soaked people should soak others when they get near? It could add a bit of tactical depth to the gameplay.

I like the goofiness, but I'm wondering how much (gameplay and visual) variation you can get in just with rain. Are you also thinking about adding other weathers, e.g. snow and storms? Or simple puzzles, where you need to use the rain to make something happen (e.g. create a puddle that electrocutes someone, or fill a container with water so something falls out)?

The way I might spin something like that into a game is just a collection of random vignettes, each one different, quick, and funny, like an episode of Mr. Show with one bizarre & random skit following another in quick succession, and you can even release them in episodes of like 5 or 10 skits apiece. Or like the indie game series La La Land. That kind of frees you from having to make some big cohesive story arc with consistent puzzles for the whole thing. You just come up with a bag full of random ideas and throw them all in.

Yeah, that makes sense. Perhaps less Katamari Damacy than Donut County.

I lived in (North) Ireland for a year, so I can claim "Based on a Real Story" xD

Thanks, yeah I wanted those goofy "Happy to piss on people's day" kind of a vibe :P I am trying to decide between 3 aesthetics: blocky/voxely, vector-art-y, or just hand-drawn cartoony (like the cloud+face).
Yeah I have been thinking of soaked people soaking others, tho I need to test it with various layouts - it could lead to a domino effect where soaking one person soaks everyone, taking all the challenge out of it.

Yeah, I'm thinking of some extra puzzles/interactables (Pyrain suggested filling up waiter reservoirs to make them overflow), and adding power ups like thunder or tornado. Maybe also acid rain, or raining frogs... lots of potential for craziness!

Yes, YES
YES! That's exactly what I am thinking of. "Rain on a wedding - rain on a beach - rain on Trump Rally - rain on shoppers waiting in grocery line, etc" the possibilities are endless, and you can even "borrow" from other pop culture (rain on a medieval city being burnt by a dragon, anyone ;) ?) Then each one can have secondary objectives (like "fill up a dryed fountain" or "electrocute a bird" by raining on an open wire etc.), some kind of a high-score (like how quickly you can soak everyone) tied to rewards/leaderboards/etc.

Zing. Donut County and The Asshole Goose Game is what I am going for.
And somehow I missed responding to this earlier:

Went to my first gaming expo this past week, Nordsken, in nothern Sweden. I even had the chance to exhibit my game in a booth, as part of a game dev accelerator program I'm in. Stilt Fella drew quite a bit of attention! :D Genuinely heartwarming to see people of all ages laughing as they flailed around trying to keep the fella on the stilts. Few made it past the first level, but some people it seemed to click with right away. At one point I returned to the booth to find this 8-year old boy who had stilt walked like a pro all the way to level 9!
Yayayya, that's awesome isn't it :) Got pics?

Here's a pic of happy game dev folks playing my thing. (I hope embedding a twitter image works without it getting unlinked or anything.)

The way I'm imagining it is that there's several gatherings of people in one level, and then you'd either super-carefully soak everyone in a group before moving on OR if you're a soaking-pro tactically soak only a portion of a crowd so they'll soak the others.
edit: suggestion for title: "SOAKS 2 B U"
