Much better - looks far more natural. As a small nitpick - why are there two doors in the structure in the left part of the house?
Because I based the model off this shot...

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3018396/Gas_Pump_House_Shot.jpgI liked the ramshackled, slapped together style of it. Since it's supposed to be one of those rural pool hall/gas station/general stores you see out in the middle of nowhere, I figured it was used as an entrance and exit dock for bringing in goods.

I'm gonna add the ice box out in front soon. The front's a little sparse at the moment, and needs more detail. I'm also gonna throw an old coke machine out along the side of the building. Maybe add some ivy there too.

I'm not opposed to the idea of collaborating again. It's just that all this time, I've wanted to make my 3rd person overhead RPG type game. I think the reason why I keep drifting back and forth between projects is because I always end up going back to this one idea, and everything else is a side project.
In fact, what I'm doing now is just a slight tweak of what we were working on before the switch up.

Nice lookin' house Renz. May I ask, what's it for? Or was that already answered earlier in the thread? (My apologies if it has, I haven't been following the thread closely. I just got an email about an update to the thread so decided to come see what was going on.)
Renzatic on 24/3/2013 at 15:57
...you can get email updates for threads? I did not know that.
I'm experimenting with the UDK by making a small scene to play around in. I want to set it up so I have a free floating overhead 3rd person camera, and simple environment interaction, like clicking to open doors, or get environment descriptions in a pop up.
It's all just an overly elaborate way for me to learn the basics of programming and scripting. I figured I might as well have fun with it though, and decided to at least make it nice looking.

oops. Posted this in the wrong thread. Ignore me.
sNeaksieGarrett on 25/3/2013 at 03:45
Yep.
Ah, I see. Yeah, UDK is definitely a good tool to play with.

UDK is good, but I decided I need to learn how to make all my assets as close to scratch as I can.
(

I'm probably gonna end up either using Unity or Blender Engine. UDK is all good, but I need more practice, less automation right now.

I've always been kinda jealous of people who could do pixel art. I guess since I grew up around Nintendo games, I've always thought there was something kinda neat about it, and I've always wanted to learn how to do it myself. I've made a few abortive attempts at it in the past, but never took a serious stab at it.
Until now.
I watched a dozen Youtube videos, read through a few tutorials, delved deep into the black creepy heart of Deviantart, all in an effort to teach myself the skill of drawing a picture pixel by pixel. Once I got the feel for how it's all done, I looked for a relatively simple object to use as a reference guide, slapped them side by side, and copied the style (no tracing, because you don't learn shit from tracing).
And this is what I did. A bucket. The reference bucket is on the left, mine's on the right...

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3018396/Bucket_Practice.jpgTurns out I've got a slight knack for it. Well, I do for making buckets anyway, I'm not sure how good I'll do on more complicated stuff yet.
It's pretty fun, too. I think I might do more.
