IIRC Palahniuk was fulsome in his praise for the movie, particularly how it streamlined some aspects of the story but also made other connections that he hadn't thought of.

For what it's worth I like Invisible Monsters better anyway.

I just got An Elephant's Journey (german version) by Jose Saramago, his latest and last. I enjoyed several of his books in the past and look forward to read this.

Been reading through the Tad Williams Otherland series. Good cyberpunkish type stuff. I just came across this line in the third book:
"It was like some tangled modernist tale about conspiracy theories gone out of control, a fable about the danger of paranoid thinking."
Completely and utterly ROFLMAO! Tad Williams used to co-host a radio show (which I listened to frequently for the entertainment value) which was solid, wall to wall conspiracy theories. You know, connecting Ronald Reagan to Lee Harvey Oswald and the Vatican banking scandal and Columbian drug cartels and the Nazis that infiltrated the government after WWII, that sort of thing. Now I just have to figure out whether the irony was intentional or not.

Just read through the entire Scott Pilgrim series over the last couple of days on the basis of wanting to get familiar with the source for the game. Was pleasantly surprised, found it kind of sweet in its way. My only real complaint is that Kim never got any proper closure, which sucks because she's easily my favourite character and the only one who's only half as screwed up as everyone else.

Got the first one awhile back, and was pleasantly surprised. For volume 1, at least, its almost line for line accurate to the film.

Heat by Bill Buford. Fantastic profile of charismatic chef Mario Batali and also of an amateur's experiences in a professional kitchen.
