If you're here, you've noticed that Dark Mod editors now have a forum on TTLG. There's also an FM discussion forum higher up, under the Thief FMs forum. So, don't be shy. Welcome to the Dark Mod Editors' Guild! So, what are you working on?

It feels weird breaking virgin territory...ooh...
Well, a quick link for people interested in doing some TDM textures in the near future. This is a quick normal/diffuse mapping primer tutorial I posted a couple months back in the T3ed forums. Everything there obviously applies here as well.

Actually, I think it's about time you showed us something new ;)

And I'd love to make something new, but I've been severely lacking for time as of late. :(
Here soon I should have more time and be able to pick up where I last left off. Then I'll use this thread for what it was intended.

Looks sweet, but I hope you're still planning to tweak the performance in the outside areas... ;)
Thief of Dreams on 25/1/2010 at 21:22
Oh yeah, that will all be taken care of. There aren't any visportals, and the rain is on through out the street which kills performance. I'll be having the rain turn on by distance to help with performance, and the visportals will help a lot as it'll cut out the entire warehouse, and the apartment building up the street.

That is probably some of the best lighting work I've seen out of TDM yet. Great job, man. You've definitely got a nice Thief 2 vibe going on with it. :thumb:

I'm probably going to pick up doom3 next paycheck to try out the dark mod. How is the editor compared to dromed? I wouldn't mind trying my hand making a level or two, but dromed is so tedious and I'm quite busy.

Well, I built a mission with DR in under two weeks. It's a bit different than DromEd when building and it takes a little planning as you build, but all around it's much easier than DromEd (I love DromEd, but it's a bitch.)
