I'm probably going to pick up doom3 next paycheck to try out the dark mod. How is the editor compared to dromed? I wouldn't mind trying my hand making a level or two, but dromed is so tedious and I'm quite busy.
Also, keep in mind that we don't use the built in Doom 3 editor that comes on the disk. We have built our own custom editor "Dark Radiant", based on the source code for GTK Radiant, but almost completely rewritten.

Bikerdude got from the mere basics to a playable and pretty nice-looking mission in only five weeks, so I'd say the editor is pretty newbie-friendly. Of course, all things are relative. Building a mission is a lot of work, building a mission that looks great and plays well is even more work, and that's platform-independent. "Gotta have the flat feet before you get the gold bars."

I was wondering why there isn't any island in tdm world...

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6947/islandu.jpgI didn't do anything special. just put a few model that's all. But it's definitly enjoying to climb up those rocks. :)

The texture is kinda too blurry for something to climb on and stick your nose into, looks more like a distant art. And it might be better it to use UVW unwrapping instead of UVW map, since some polygons have weird texture distortion (e.g. these on the front at the bottom, in comparison to upper parts). But the overall concept is cool.

yeah it's for distance scene. Because in doom3 these models are used for that purpose and those are first trees on mars ground :)
I used doom3 assets in tdm just for test purpose btw.

Hehe, why not use the palm-trees of TDM on that island?? :)
