Selective perception? No. Skewed sample? Possibly.

I've been repeatedly insulted by ZB. This person is like, looking for when someone doesn't know something so they can pounce. ZB once jumped down my throat for using a pipe in my post subjects, as if it mattered. Don't count on anyone reigning ZB's behavior in. You'll have to learn to ignore him until there's some sort of actual reprimanding - which I doubt will ever come.

To be fair, ZB's snarky only to people who didn't think hard enough before asking a question.
As for the screenshots, I've been repeating this several times here and there: use the Levels tool. Crank up the blacks output to something like 8 or 16 to make sure everybody will see your image in on their monitors. If you can't be bothered to launch Gimp, use IrfanView image tools: press Shift+G, then change the Gamma setting from 1.0 to something like 1.2.

No, actually the hostile and rude behavior is pretty standard coming from him-not that moderation will ever do anything about it-he's one of those old trolls that's been around so long that his behavior is accepted instead of dealt with.

(...)It's especially ridiculous in the context of the recent (completely unwarranted) vitriol directed towards Downwinder, whose only offense was loving the franschise a bit too unabashedly. (...)
I wouldn't call that unwarranted. ;)

Of course you wouldn't. Thankfully we have intelligent and reasonable moderators who know to disregard your opinion on the matter.
But seriously, in Column A you have someone whose sole purpose on the forums seems to be to seek out earnest inquiries, and counter them with unhelpful condescension. In column B, you have a hardcore fan who posts cheerful (albeit often frivolous) topics. And it's the latter case in which you want to see intervention from the mods? Yikes.
EDIT: to the mods, I'm sorry if I'm overstepping. I'll bow out now.

"Build-board"? Err, do you mean (
http://www.opengl-tutorial.org/intermediate-tutorials/billboards-particles/billboards/) billboards?
Also, you shouldn't use particles for effects like in your screenshot. That's what axis-locked bitmap worldspace objects are for. They do a far better job of it since they'll stay facing the player, but still remain "upright" when you get close to them.

Great to see this example! This is what i was looking for...
I've tried this many times...but i failed on it...
Can someone explain how it works exactly? How does the "axis-locked bitmap" work?

I think i've spended hours in the past on trying this...so please...ZylonBane, LarryG or someone else...tell me how this works :wot: I really need this
