I liked the accelerated growth rate of the sapling. I was hoping that it would be a redwood by the end of the game.

I burned it. I didnt know you could plant it. I'm not going all the way back now though

I'll probably plant it the next time through, just because it's a little more difficult and there's really no other reason to go into the pagan dock stronghold if you don't. Yeah there's some loot in there I guess, but I don't think many of us were short on cash in this game. The first 3 times through I just left the thing, or picked it up and then didn't do anything with it. It seemed like such a non-Garrett thing to do -- plant a tree? burn a tree? to make nice with the pagans or hammers? What about that cutscene at the end of Trail of Blood in Thief2, when he
met Viktoria and knew he was in real danger, but didn't try to make friends. He even threatened her!
That's why I never really bothered with the faction thing. Mossing up cornerstones, shooting arrows through tusks, killing big beetles.... and as for the undead, I like to ghost through the Abysmal Gale anyway. The only place I need to kill them are after the Cradle, with Lauryl. Being enemies or at least neutral with the factions seems more consistent to me. But I'll plant the thing next time, just to do it. Maybe I can think of it as Garrett's last nice thing for Viktoria or something...

I planted it - anyways there are plenty of zombies to roast for the Hammers.

It seems whenever I get there I've always got the hammers as allies (or at least neutral) and am way behind on Pagan kudos. Since I would prefer never to be attacked I always plant it for the pagans.
Game just seems geared that way. Have to burn it once, I suppose, but can't find a reason why. Guess I 'm just not mad enough about having my eye ripped out...

I burnt it, then planted it in s subsequent game. The allies really help at endgame. The more allies the merrier, I discovered. You get to see some really fun battles that you can bait with whistler arrows in the end of the game.

I burned it by accident. The fireplace throbbed, and not thinking straight, I thought "maybe there's a fire arrow or I can put the fire out or something". Ooopsie.

I burned it the first play through too by accident.Until I realised. Then I gave it to the Pagans. I loved the Pagans and getting the faction and being able to walk around in their compound.

I normally horde it... I gain enough faction status with the normal methods.
