. Sometimes I wonder if TDS would have been liked more if it had come out before the other two.
What a bizarre statement.

I don't see TDS as a sequel really, but I have read some posts that say that.
This is as odd to me as taffers saying there was no electricity in Dark Project.
TDS
is a sequel. It is, in fact, the last third of a trilogy. Act 3 of a three-act story. It was the wrapping-up of a series of Thief games that had been interrupted by LGS's demise before it could be concluded. This is a fact, not an opinion. I am under the impression you are not interested in the story, or only small parts of it, because the story makes it clear.:sly: A sizeable percentage aren't interested in the story. I, myself, am very interested in the story, as set in motion by TDP/Gold and TMA--especially since I couldn't play the games for years, but I could read the texts and listen to the voice files. :)

The very reason I exclude TDS from the storyline is *because* I care so much about the story. I love Stephen Russell's voice acting as much as the next fanatic, but what I loved about it was how it immersed me in the character. The texts immersed me in the world as well.
There was too much about TDS's story that more than counteracted all of that. At least in my opinion.

Yet Ion Storm tried to hide that it was a sequel by removing the 3 from the title. Who are we to argue with the developers? ;)

Wha--? Are you joking? Revising history? Forgetting how it went down? Are you saying TDS is so different, it shouldn't be considered the finale to the trilogy? What are you saying? Yer bein' silly, right?:joke:
The "3" was dropped because of the focus on the console gamers. They wouldn't be able to play the other two without a PC, and many of them would discover
Thief through TDS. The devs called it, among other names, "T3" and "Thief 3", and the editor is called T3Ed.

How much has the game changed from the original Thief 3 design that Looking Glass had planned?
Randy: This is a very authentic sequel to Thief and Thief 2, and it follows very much in the footsteps laid out for the triology (sic) at Looking Glass.
Who's arguing with the devs?;)
From Warren's letter regarding Randy Smith's departure from ISA:
Quote:
As many in the press have already seen and experienced, Thief 3 is a fun, compelling game, one that brings the first Thief trilogy to a fitting conclusion. I hope fans, old and new, agree.
Anyway, droplets from a sea of information. Another essay I guess I'll have to write.

Time for a break?
History, Shmistory.
It all comes down to that first half hour, just you and your product. Deadly wasn't titled Thief III for a reason (and I don't think it was really to "save" the kids...). They did the right thing.

What are YOU saying?:weird: Could you all tie your point to what made you post it? It sounds like rebuttals are being made for comments I didn't make or a meaning I never intended. The context is being skipped over. Also, I can see how people are thinking I'm raving or upset, but I'm quite calm and wondering what the heck is happening.
Oooohhh, I get it.... It's ANARCHY!!

Then you did not understand my point.

Nobody's understanding anybody's posts of late. Hopefully it's temporary, and will pass less painfully than a kidney stone. Maybe...like a kidney bean.
