The first FM was released a while ago.
Yes, and was very good from what I hear. I haven't tried it out myself, I am waiting for a more definitive way of loading them, aside from unzipping and reinstalling T3 (which also may have happened). Check out the T3 editors guild for the thread.

The blackjacking. You had to be far too close to use it. And without a lean-forward command, blackjacking from the front is out.
Also, the lean commands. You actually move your feet, rather than just your torso like a decent thief would. This has led to multiple incidences of falling off things.

The interface: The item viewer, the fact that you can't see how alive/dead you are unless you have the heal potion queued
With the oversized console-design HUD, that was actually one of my favorite features. And I know gameplay owns realism any day of the week, but in real life you don't necessarily always know how dead you are without checking, much thanks to the drugs your brain distribute  :o :joke: (

Leaning is pointless in TDS. What I liked about the previous two games was leaning while in the shadows & not exposing yourself. It seems like you expose yourself every time you lean in TDS.

The leaning actually moves your character's balance to one side too, so if you lean over a ledge to see what's below, you'll likely just fall off. The entire control and movement in TDS is garbage. That's what I hate the most.
Second to that, I hate how they changed the weapons. The dagger is stupid, I'd rather have the shortsword back, so I can fight guards. What's the point of even having a dagger if it does next to zero damage, and you can already "backstab" people (except completely bloodlessly and silently) using the blackjack?
The bow also seems stupid, but it's mostly a problem to do with the stupid 3rd person system they implemented, which is also the root of the movement problem. The physics in the game although definitely cool in some cases because of the advanced physics, are also stupid when you're dealing with objects you can't directly move.
The pagans have become total crap. I don't know what the hell they were thinking with them, but they're completely stupid. At least they didn't bugger up the Hammerites too much, but they completely destroyed their architectural style, replacing their cathedrals adorned everywhere with hammers with very subdued and generic stone buildings, with hardly a hammer to be seen for the most part. When you do see their icon, it's so blended in with it's surroundings that it doesn't seem like it was anything but a simple decoration, and it certainly doesn't seem like a meaningful and monolithic icon like in the other two games.
The briefings are terrible. Why did they get rid of those awesome cutscenes again?
The ending sucked bigtime.
The minimalist project thankfully deals with most of the other gripes I have with the game. Thief Deadly Shadows wasn't horrible (with the minimalist project installed, and all of the graphical upgrades), but with the short sword, a proper first-person oriented view, fixing the movement and bow issues, as well as properly designed map areas (so there aren't load zones every 2 meters in some areas) for the PC instead of the XBOX, the game would be good. Just good, mind you, not great like the first two games. It's truly sad that all of the fantastic Looking Glass series are being destroyed. Deus Ex, Thief, and soon System Shock. For shame.
At least we can look forward to fan-made releases like The Dark Mod for a quality retrospective experience like the original thief games, but with enhancements that are worthwhile instead of detractive from the game experience.

I mostly hate all the threads about how everyone hates T3... :weird:
Tulsidas on 8/7/2005 at 06:14
Everything that it tries (and eventually fails) to do differently from LGS Thief. :p

Thief 3 is not crap, awful, terrible etc. It tried to have everything the 1&2 got, yet be different, and that is the problem. Here are the main changes and my opinion:
3rd person - ignored it, used it once to see if I don't fall
No sword - a tiny dagger? :weird: well, it's better than punching
Silent crouching - well it is... odd (bug)
Guard AI - very good, fight well, are aware of working in a team, swordsmen don't look like they were fighting with a rapier... Only sometimes it has errors + the fact they can't climb, but very good AI
Fences - good idea, but why the %&*$ i have to sell them coins?!
No cutscenes - :(
Small locations - they are small not bad... only the "City" was tiny...
The END - :nono: :tsktsk: :( It was sort of... burying the chance for next Thief games alive...
Most of them ocurred with the engine changing... Dark Engine isn't immortal, someone someday would change it anyway!
You should be happy that there is a new Thief... just install minimalist and play, it fixes most of the problems and makes the game like it should be!

The first FM was released a while ago. There's some more coming soon, but these things take time.
Where can you get the first T3 FM? Please give me a website or link or something?
And I hate the climbing gloves.
And I hate the extremely high system requirements. Even if you system is better then them. It's choppy anyway.
