Exactly, agreed.
Show me per-pixel game engine where it can rebuild 50 shadow casting lights in less than 5 seconds on a single core cpu.

I'm glad I purchased this title for the music alone. I realise the soundtrack has since become available, but if you really listen, some of the ingame versions are actually different. I recorded the score while playing the game, so that I would get the music plus the various atmosphere sounds mixed in. Overall, the music alone is worth it to me.
is this soundtrack a fan thing or do you mean a proper CD?

Well, It's not really the game I like, though it wasn't bad (worse in plot execution than other games, but the story was great IMO). The thing I love the most in T3 is its engine :)
Yes, I havent lost my mind. Actually tampering with Flesh forced me to do many things: I started learning 3dsmax, making textures, models, reading books about architecture, 3d design and CG. Well, and it paid off, I found the way how to make beautiful-looking hi-res (1024x1024) textures, performance-wise FMs, some nice effects like these:
So, while I might consider the game average, I wouldn't say so about the engine ;)
Thanks for posting this. I didn't care for the engine, but only because I didn't have rope arrows, among other things. But now I am inclined to change my mind, thanks to your post, and looking at your links. Perhaps the engine was a good choice after all. Well, not a BAD one anyway. Could it be somewhere in the middle? :)

That's one of the great myths/calamities surrounding TDS modding. An engine won't or can't support or unsupport any game-play dynamics. Unreal engine does have water physics out of the box and have much better ragdolls/physics in native code. Just that ISA develeopers chose to use a different physics engine and couldn't integrate it well to their version of unreal engine and we were left without rope arrows and water.
Nothing is impossible with some reverse engineering, look what people bringing into dromed.

I liked the way it didn't give me motion sickness like the other two Thief games did..
I enjoyed the game overall....

My like list is very, VERY, VERY small...
Because the only thing I think I actually liked was the lockpicking system... and being able to use holy water as grenades (though not being able to use it with water arrows SUCKED)
Everything else - utter garbage...
