Architects? Writers? Computer programmers? Design? Maths? Economics?
I'd imagine it's a pretty mixed bag, but I'd be very curious to know the professional backgrounds of our celebrities here :)

If I had to choose from your list I would say writers and design. The better FM's have good story lines with brilliant and believable architecture. One of the biggest attributes a good FM author can have is creativity.

Don't know if I can count as one of the celebrities but I'm a law school student :D

I'm far from being one of the best FM authors (heck, I'm just a noob still learning the ropes), but I'm a historian and writer.

As a Mathematician I like to do complicated stuff and setups. I would say that I made some very unique stuff and riddles for my mission.
I started writing a book a long time ago - Daraan is a character from it I wanted to portrait with my missions.
But I lose myself in little things (or big ones :D then get from one point to another and even further that's how my 'projects' are born...
I need some plants bamm here 80 models
I need a book boom another 30 with joints, retextures and and and
I want to rise the water in an area of my map with flow and stuff -> Water rising system
I want to build a small town part, hey what a about a building pack :)
Progress on Mission - 5%
My design with brushes is kinda well... I'm not satisfied. Architectural design I lack it. I decided to dump the whole interior of my mission and build it anew. It was a big and necessary step but this and soo (too) many ideas in mind it's not good for the motivation. Haven't done anything lately.
Everything should be perfect, bugfree, failsafe, perfect, universal...
Mathematicians are lazy people, so lazy that they would invest hours of work just to save a few minutes in the future.
That's the kinda guy I am. I will get stuff done. It will be the best I can deliver. If there is a deadline - it may not be perfect but it will be the best possible.
Here is the core to the problem I have so much space within Thief .......................................so............... progress? I'm a perfectionist and that's why I am not a good example of a mission builder :D
Yandros on 26/2/2017 at 23:04
My background is in mathematics, education, and software design and programming. I think the education degree and 7 years in the classroom helped me some with making stories that people can relate to, even if I'm not really a good text writer (that's why Tannar and Nickie proofread my texts and make edits to improve them). The math and engineering disciplines have helped me understand the nuances of Dromed and custom scripts, and how to apply them to solve problems like scripting Random_Taffer's crazy ideas in Godbreaker. :D

I'm Yandros's brother by another mother. Mathematics, teaching (both secondary and adult education), software design and programming, followed by software process improvement, and, finally, software asset management. No claims to greatness, but whatever goodness I have in my missions, plotting and texts comes from extensive and eclectic reading (mysteries, fantasy, science fiction, sagas, lays, historical biography, medieval romance, myths, legends, folk tales, and so on, all from a variety of cultures -- Assyrian, Sumerian, Egyptian, Chinese, Korean, Western European, Eastern European, African, Native American, Transplanted American, South American, Australian, ...) Not all of it ends up in the missions, but all of that informs them.

It would be quicker to name who you consider the greatest authors and then they good post what they do for a living. ;)
slavatrumpevitch on 27/2/2017 at 04:44
I'd rather not name names :) Anyway, I'm not particularly curious about any individual author's background. I'm interested to see any overall tendencies and patterns. In case that wasn't revealing: I'm a statistician, myself. Well, 'econometrician' really.

Whatever gives people
* an attention span (hence, "discipline");
* a sufficient amount of free time;
* and the financial security not to worry about spending that free time on fucking around with a niche hobby.
That includes the rich, but they typically have (
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump) better things to do. That mostly leaves the people who are wasting your tax dollars.
Also, hi, I am Melan and I work at a public research institute. I have a PhD in regional studies, and a book forthcoming from (
