The math part isn't shocking - math leads to computers leads to computer games. A logical progression there. Other than that, I don't think people's background matters that much. I've released a few FMs and I'm in recruiting/HR.

Always been interested in dromed, but what little free time I have has always been taken up by other hobbies.
I can relate. I very much enjoy acting as a hobby, so I spend almost all of my free time at the theatre. If I spent all of that time on DromEd, I could have probably made something playable. I'm still taffing around in DromEd from time to time since it's very addictive, and I always want to go back to it.

I get what you meant, but this makes it sound like you think skacky thinks he's better than he is. :D

I come from a medical background, so not related to Dromed in any way, but like Melan, I just wanted to learn the damn thing. I feel like I'm coming along ok at this point, and soon enough I'll release what I've created.
I too agree, having played a score of fm's by many different authors of this awesome community, that there is no "best" author. Each individual has their own take on the Thief world, and it's great to see how each different person interprets it. Plus the fact that this game is nearly twenty years old and going strong still.

I'm an architect. Well technically, I have my architecture diploma but I don't work as an architect per say. I do all kind of stuff related to architecture and construction sites though. I can design a house, follow its construction and even build it with my own hands. My work mostly focus on insulating old buildings, it requires to pay attention to a lot of things and I learn every day.
I used to be good with mathematics but lost most of it through my architecture studies. However, I'm pretty talented with geometry.

I'm a regular guy who reads frequently and studies in order to be an English teacher someday. I think a lot when I can't sleep and sometimes that's where my FMs are born but most of the time I just improvise and try to be creative.

Interesting to see so many mathematical backgrounds. Personally, I'm under-educated and can barely add up, but I'm creative in words and visuals - that's where my inspiration comes from and what drives me to deal with the technical stuff that I barely understand.
That's interesting, because I've thought some of our missions were quite similar, yet whereas I made missions to try to find a place to put all of my technical stuff, it seems you only make technical stuff because your missions need them.
Needless to say, I have a programming background. While I didn't have anything back when I first started messing with DromEd (I was fairly young), even back then I was of a programming disposition. The missions I released would have been back when I was in college studying ... yes, software development.

I think cheesy voice actors do the best stuff.

Electrical / software engineer. Would have been a scientist if there was any money in it. :laff:
I just loved figuring out ways to accomplish cool effects in Thief.
