I think guards with lanterns is a great addition to the Thief world if a little annoying as your dark corner suddenly turns into daylight. Mind you, I felt a little cheated the other day when walked out of my hiding place 50 yards behind a guard with a lantern, with his back to me, only to find him sprinting towards me the second I walked into the light. C'est la vie.

Huge boards with 2 or 3 doors..........if you are going to put up a whole city, take the time to fill them, after all, I am a thief.
definately the hammer gag. (I think my Great-Granny made that one up...lol)
And mostly.......empty rooms....Toss a 5 spot on the floor or something.....
Although the ladder thing is irritating, we live in an imperfect world.

If people make an octagonal building and then use a square room brush, the whole stealth and hearing concept of Thief goes to pot. I HATE THAT! I want the sounds to be right.
Errrrrr, thanks for the tip, looks like I need to re-brush a certain room :eww:

Look over on the Editor's forum. There is a nice thread discussing octagonal roombrushing. It gives some valuable suggestions.

Check out The Editor's Guild forum. There's a pretty good thread going on right now about room brushing funky shapes.:)
Edit:
D'Oh! kfort beat me to it by seconds!:o

I too have to agree that I hate missions with time limits in them. I hate them in all games, but in Thief they are totally uncalled for. When playing the OMs I had to put up with them to get through the game, but in FMs I won't. If a FM is a timed mission I simply won't play it. Take heed authors.

About the time limits,
I don't mind implied time limits. For example meet with so and so before the bell tolls, but you can take 5 hours to get there and the bell dosn't toll untell you enter the area. Kind of like the Karras/Truart conversation in Evesdropping, or having to complete all the objectives in the endgame. It can be used to add a sence of urgancy to the mission without actually rushing the game.

Actually I'm 27 thank you very much.
Just stating what I prefer,
I didnt say those missions suck, (actually they're some of the best around)
I just dont like being rushed when I'm sneaking.

I agree, I think that's much better than-do it in 20 min or you die! ;)

I started writing a post, but before I knew it, it was literally 9 full pages long. So, uh, I'll just post one of my 'gripes'.
Bugs are probably the things I dislike the most in any mission. Obviously. But I don't mean just any bugs - bugs the designer acknowledges and actually creates a "Known Issues" list out of. This is understandable in a beta. However, it seems as if every 'decent' mission I've downloaded in the last eight months has had a "Known Issues" list attached to it. If you know about the issue, fix it or remove the problem. Get a script made or do it differently. I'm more impressed by something that works than something that works only on the sixth Tuesday of the thirteenth month of 1964.
The only situation where I could possibly understand a 'Known Issue' is when your grandmother tells you that as her last wish, she wants you to release that mission of yours before she dies. You can see the heart monitor fluctuating and you know she has only moments left, so you rush off and mail that thing to every FM site on the net.
It's not a race. Take a few more days to resolve the issues before you make it available.
