forward and strafe
Strafe is a modern standard behaviour for left-right buttons, all rotating is made with a mouse. I suppose you still use a Wolf3d/DooM-era input layout...

The secret trick is to circle them clockwise while slashing them with your sword. Just keep distance and try to hit them from the back.
Good old "how to fight haunts" tactics :D
Actually standard guards don't even need this tactic, just a nice charge-hack-retreat tactic, and can be killed mostly without any damage. It's possible, but much harder/luck based with faster enemies like assassins or haunts to perform such maneuvers without getting some hp lost in the process.
Also weaker enemies (normal guards mostly) often get into a hit recovery animation when slashed with a power swing. It can happen but less often to other enemies too, giving a slight advantage in the fight.

when you can beat Killing of Timer, The by jis then you are good with thief sword :P
also the deathmatch fan missions are good to get the sword skills up

This one is completely emotional/sentimental but:
Missions where there clearly a secondary plot that Garrett/Protagonist can help with, but its there just for flavour.
Recently playing "Insurrection" by hipbreaker and theres even this voiced character that wants the zombie cure for his wife, he asks garrett for it too.
But hes there just for flavour... you cant help him in anyway, even after you have the zombie cure.
:(

When a main objective is behind something that is tagged as a secret.

I dont like:
rooms with nothing important inside, specially when locked
too many locked doors
locked boxes
long time to open
lack of inventory
where Dont kill is must, like they can kill me but I can not otherwise game is over
copy pasted rooms left right
missions where a lot of rooms, big houses
creatures that no possible to kill
videos before game starts, videos with long dialogues before and inside the game
doors that dont open and locked
very narrow space between door and walls
too big space to walk from one house to other

I can understand all the others..but this one is a little strange. Is it just because you can't hide behind those doors? It doesn't look logical..? And I'm assuming it's when they're open all the way and they're against a wall.

>but this one is a little strange
I suppose he means the situation when the opened door blocks the corridor.

Ahh, that would make a lot more sense. I like to leave doors open —I know this goes against a lot of players' norms— but I want to be able to tell at a glance where I've been. Most FMs don't have open doors. So, if a door is open, I'm 99% sure I've been there before. Kind of like a breadcrumb trail. It doesn't bother me in the least that I'm not "ghosting", I just want to keep track of where I've been.
So yeah, doors that open up into a hallway and block you from going up and down that hallway is highly annoying.

Another dislike i ran into lately: Missions with overly sensitive guards.

I leave all doors open too, despite me trying to do "dynamic ghosting", which is mostly do normal ghosting right up until the objective is just to to get back to the escape zone, at which point i tend to just do a mad dash to the exit, theres way too many missions where the longer you play, the more broken the AI becomes, so having to rely on AI not being silly on the way back can be extremely frustrating.
The other exception to my ghosting rule is undead (which i always try to kill) and missions with warring factions, which... depending on the feeling of the story, i try to get them to fight each other or not.
