I work at a store that stocks (

Gladly that one is only available from the online store. Mostly I sell phone accessories, gaming stuff and audio things. I get nice discounts off from that everything and get to test a lot of stuff (rocking Audio techina's ATH-M50 atm)
Aside from that I'm in the uni studying media studies. It's awesome.

Working as a Machinist. I've been doing it since 11th grade vocational school in 87. I work on larger machines and parts for the majority of the time. I do a fair amount of welding and fabricating also.
Edit to add that I didn't actually fabricate these .particular pieces. I just did the machining on these parts .
Here are a few of the more interesting and challenging things I've done

Finally someone who creates something physical and isn't either a pixel pusher or in education somehow. :)

Specter - I was part of a movement known as Calvary Chapel, not really a denomination as such, but Christian, theologically conservative, socially progressive. I left nearly six years ago and am an atheist now - long story, which I recounted briefly (

What are you even on about?

Oh FFS he was complimenting Glslvrfan. And with good reason. It's cool that glslvrfan is a machinist and makes things.
Don't be a dick and spit it back in his face. He was saying something nice.
Edit: So I had some coffee, chilled out, and am ready to take the benefit of the doubt that nobody meant to put anybody down, and you (dt) weren't attacking a compliment of a machinist for some bizarre reason... Maybe it was "pixel pushers & education" being a backhanded insult if that's what you were thinking? I don't really see that either; it's just a way to highlight what's cool about what glslvrfan does in contrast to others IMO, and that's just the way he phrased it. Doesn't have to mean anything more. That's how I read it anyway.

I never said it wasn't. I'm questioning the other part of Kolya's comment, the "isn't a pixel pusher or in education" thing. This is Kolya we're talking about and it's really hard to understand his screwed up values sometimes.

FTR my edit was ninja'd in before I saw your post. I was thinking that...
Eh, that reading's a stretch to me, but it's not my dog in the fight anyway, I would have used other words, and anyway my coffee chill is kicking in with the jazz now, so no worries from me.
The way I would have put the point was, if we were in a post-apoc world, glslvfan would be the guy that's posted so far that I'd put fair odds on surviving and that I'd want early dibs on having in my party. If we were in some forum to talk politics, I'd want early dibs on a journalist. And if we were trapped in some abandoned spacecraft ran by a mad AI that insisted on meticulous web design, well I'd know who's doors I'd be knocking on first.
That's how I would have put the point... Each person can have some virtue over everybody else in the group without it meaning it's a knock against what anybody else does. And I think it's nice to recognize people like that sometimes.

Hmm I never heard the term before but I kinda like "pixel pusher". Sounds kings cooler than "web designer" :p

I just always assume Koyla's insulting someone because that's his schtick. And it's not old or tired AT ALL. :p
