No instantaneous drowning. For godsake let there be SWIMMING. None of this "OOPS I fell into a lake now I'm dead business." Did Garrett forget how to swim? Did the City officials replace all of the water with sulfuric acid? What, what what?
I always wondered if all the Mechanists' new technology lead to water pollution & that's why Garrett couldn't swim anymore. There are many references to plants dying & air pollution. Why not water pollution? Just a thought.

Sure! And nothing's shiny or polished, unless it's loot, like it's all corroded.

Linearity!

This is a pretty tough thread. I kind of feel sorry for the guys who might be developing the game as we speak; there's some really high expectations here... But I'd nonetheless like to add my two cents. I simply hope the developers wont concentrate on the wrong stuff. I hope they don't neglect physics and playcontrol. And I hope they don't forget to release an editor (or release a crappy one).

I think we simply posted here our dream on a Thief IV. I have a bad feeling they will dumb down the game or even worse - modernize it... although then then the guy in charge has to be a complete fool in it's exact meaning, or atleast somewhere close. If they do that, i'll consider Eidos worse then Benthesa softworks...
We can alway hope for the best and i really do hope for the best :) Could we discuss about suggesting plot continue? Or it's pretty pointless, because they won't eidos won't really do the plot we like? I still think it would be interesting though. Seeing the builders rise and maybe another new side rising. Having the action in woods or something sometimes. You know... stuff like that ;)

Hope for the best, but expect the worst. Face it, if Thief 4 is in development, it's because some suit at Eidos has been surfing, bumped into TTLG or something and seen how many people still love Thief, and has had little $ symbols go "Kaching" in their eyes. There won't be any respect for the series, it'll be a case of "Whip something together with the Thief licence, and do it fast so we can milk those kids! And put in some cool stuff like explosions, you developers know about that don't you?"

It's not like TTLG (the worlds only massive following of Thief) has been beating down Eidos door with a petition for Thief IV or anything... The world knows about Thief now, thanks to Deadly. How lovely is that?

It won't happen, atleast i dunno how could it or why couldn't it, but anyway: I WISH LOOKING GLASS STUDIOS WOULD COME BACK MORE POWERFUL THAN EVER  That would be the greatest thing (besides Thief) ever happened to me...
Kin on 12/8/2008 at 04:20
If the same people that worked in looking glass recruited in eidos i believe all our problems about the game would be solved instantly.

While I see merit in games like Assasin's Creed, what I really want is a straight up game where the focus is more on standing still in the shadows and waiting than on jumping around doing acrobatic parkour moves.
