I am more of a role-player usually but tried the Thief: Deadly Shadows and really loved it. So I thought I would try some other stealth games. I got Tenchu: Return From Darkness, but found it a bit too bloodthirsty - more killing than sneaking. Then I got Splinter Cell and Splinter Cell 2 (Double Agent) as Christmas presents. I have played Splinter Cell a bit and quite like it but it's nothing compared to Thief:DS. the hide in shadows and sneak about element is all there, but the atmosphere just isn't the same. I really liked the world that TDS created, with the crazy Hammerites praying as they patrolled, and just as crazy Pagans - but not just the characters, the whole feel of the game pulled me in.
I just can't seem to get as excited about being an agent or spy in the 'near-future' setting of SC.
So, any big TDS fans know of other games I might like to try? Don't suggest Thief 1 and 2 - I am completely useless at computer games - the worlds worst keyboard user - I have 6 oversized thumbs on each hand - and the reaction times of a tortoise. It really p****s me off as the games I most want to play never seem to come out on consoles.
Any ideas would be very welcome.

Thief 1 and 2. Your computer should be able to run it if it's from the last 5 years, and you'll just have to learn the controls if you really want more. It's really quite simple, just stick with it.
Anyway, consoles are a bit low on (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Stealth_computer_games) stealth games with little (or no) bloodshed. If you don't like Splinter Cell, Hitman is the next best thing, I think. Still, no steampunk or crazy religious factions (or even hiding in shadows).
Get better with a keyboard and mouse. Maybe try some standard first person shooters with it first.

Hitman: Blood Money is the first to jump to my mind for the console. Although you'll probably hear it a million more times, Thief 1 and 2 far surpass T: DS in all the qualities that you have mentioned above.

I'll say it too: Thief 1 and 2.
Not only are they better than TDS, but they have tons of Fan Missions. A lot of fan missions have surpassed the original games in many ways.
About computer controls:
I know a lot of people prefer the asdw keys for moving, which can be a little daunting because of the number of keys around them. I prefer the numpad--especially for Thief--because it's a smaller number of keys and it's arranged in a grid. It makes it a lot easier to keep your hand centered in the right place, I think.

The numpad is for lefties. Otherwise your hand is almost a foot away from its normal resting position on the keyboard. And do you find typing to be daunting?

Although I wouldn't go that far to describe myself, I'm certainly not very good with the faster paced FPSs.
Because Thief is a sneaking-based game, the pace is much slower so you can plan most things. And because you can assign the controls as you like them, it's quite easy to ensure you're always in control.

You might like Deus Ex: Invisible War. It uses the same ridiculously bloated engine TDS does, it's mostly an RPG, and it is possible to play it stealthy. However, if you didn't like SC (I <3 SC), you prolly wouldn't like DX either.
Heh, is that enough anacronyms for ya? ;)

You got me. I do find typing to be daunting.
If you have room to move the keyboard around, the numpad can be positioned where it's more comfortable.
The main things I like about the numpad are:
The grid layout (move backward, walk forward, run forward, and lean forward are all in a line).
There's not a Start button that needs to be avoided.
For those of you that do use asdw (or something similar), what key do you use for lean forward? Do you have separate keys for walk forward and run forward, or do you use a speed modifier key instead?

I have to give another recommendation for Thief 1 & 2, despite what you said above. The game really doesn't require fast reflexive typing skills, it's worth tackling the keyboard in order to play those two classic games.

Plus once you have played 1 and 2 there are hundreds of fan missions to work your way through. :D Which sort of gives you a never-ending source of 'new games'.
