I have a strange problem with Thief 2 I've never encountered before.
It won't run. Whether I choose to play a FM or the OMs, it crashes during the stage when I should either start the mission itself or see the store screen. The objectives are displayed alright, and when I choose the difficulty, the mission starts loading - it's just that I never actually get ingame. Even DromEd can't load any mission.
What's strange about this is that I haven't done anything 'suspicious' at all. The last FM that worked OK was The Old Tribe - then I tried to play The Hole, only to encounter this bug. Tried several other FMs and none of them work.
So I checked Thief's directory - and I see that for some unknown reason, a folder called 'Bitmap', which contains a few tga's and thiefpal.pcx, has newly materialized there (none of the FMs I played even contains this folder!). The only other file that changed (besides the normal ones, like DarkLoader.current) is cam.cfg, it now says:

It seems to me that the problem arises when Thief/DromEd tries to draw the mission. If so, the heart of the problem might be this file.
Unfortunately, I can't find the original T2 CD and just reinstall the whole thing. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?
(And no, I did not install any new video drivers or twiddled with any settings)

OK, I figured it out (or rather, dug out an old post by bukary which helped). In case someone else has the same problem - for whatever reason, you need to delete (rename) motiondb.bin. Don't ask me why, but it worked.

the builder helps those who help themselves. :thumb:
that IS a strange bug, though. i'd recommend looking harder for your T2 CD in case something else pops up.
