When's the last time we've had a game like Hexen, Undying, Alice, or something similar? Am I missing something? Did they all go to the consoles?
The_Raven on 13/10/2008 at 01:14
Doesn't Dark Messiah count? That or Oblivion. :p
Digital Nightfall on 13/10/2008 at 01:22
I don't think Dark Messiah does. Even if it's only an RPG lite, the swordplay gives it a completely different game-type feel than the ones I listed. I won't start badmouthing Oblivion here. Oops.

Well there's always that Hexen mod for Doom 3 whenever it comes out.

And Project Offset, too.
Guess I am just feeling nostalgic.

Dark messiah scratched that itch for me, but it sure would be nice to have more within the genre.
Also, probably not what you are looking for, but (
http://www.aceteam.cl/zenoclash/) Zenoclash is probably somewhat relevant.
There is a teaser and lots of screens in case you're interested.
Digital Nightfall on 13/10/2008 at 03:05
Actually that looks just about right. BUT is is a PC game?

Yes.

We're very interested in eventually taking Zeno Clash to other platforms, and the Source engine (on which Zeno Clash is built) is very friendly for XBOX 360 porting. However, the success of our title will determine whether we can move to consoles or not. Also, the title is a little short for a full 360 game, but since we're sort of going episodic, perhaps in the future we'll see a bundle. It's hard to say now, but we're definitely interested.

About the system requirements: We don't have anything final yet but my guess is that it will be similar to what you need to play Half-Life episode 2. We don't want very high system requirements. We want something that lots of people can play. It will run on older machines.
We don't have multiplayer in the game... it wasn't the focus of the project and we'd much rather invest our time on getting a solid single player. We're a relatively small team so we have to focus our work in this game. This doesn't mean we won't ever have a multiplayer component, just not with our first release.

Oooh, I completely forgot about Zenoclash. Has anyone got an ETA?

I like it this way round.

Regarding the release date: We hope to have some more definitive news on this soon. We will obviously post the info in the forums.
Back in April they said they were looking to use Steamworks, too:

Yes. We will be using Steamworks and we are planning to create achievements. We're just getting into steamworks so we might have some things to announce regarding this later.
These are just the first things I'm finding.
And in August:
