Well, though I'm not a big fan of semantics either, it is kinda hard to discuss the absence of a specific type of game, if it's not clear what that specific type of game is supposed to be.
EDIT:
Also, both* games I've played that Digi mentioned never really did it for me. So I'm intrigued to see how to classify this type of game that doesn't really do it for me.
*) Undying is still in my "bought it must find time to play it"-stack.

What's it with TTLG's obsession to argue about concrete definitions of vague and arbitrary terms?
Because around here spades are shovels and anyone who disagrees is an elitist.

The absolutely
most fun I've had in a game since those you mentioned, Dan (which I also love)... Is playing OVERLORD.
What's not to love about being the all-powerful dark lord, rampaging about followed by wise cracking, beer drinking (and pissing), lecherous minions who cater to your every whim. In a fun twist, the Halflings, Elves, Unicorns, Dwarfs are the bad guys, and it's your job to put them in their places. You can run through the game going for ultimate evil, or you can decide to be a somewhat merciful Overlord and only be slightly evil. You even get to choose your mistress ;)
The graphics are great, the voice acting and stories are fun... I swear I've played it through 15 times (and then came the expansion: Raising Hell, which added a whole bunch of fun stuff to the game as well as new levels). I've also just seen that there is an Overlord 2 in the works woo-hoo! :thumb:
Most definitely worth checking out!

I loved the sound of that game but I always remember it being damned with faint praise. Looking around most of the reviews are great. I never did see it on the shelves though.
Is there anything obvious about the expanded version on the packaging? None of the ones on Amazon or the local mob mention it.

The definition of "fantasy action games" is ...
n. the exact games that I am thinking of.
;)
Looks like there's some news on Zeno Clash. I would have looked over this if you guys hadn't mentioned it. (

I'll take a look at that, Mara!
Also, I am told that fantasy games are more expensive to produce than both scifi, historic, and real-world games, due to the different requirements on the art direction and art assets production. For a real-world game you just send the office intern downtown with a digital camera after teaching them how to not shake the camera when the shutter is going off. For a fantasy game, which you could still get half your textures if downtown happens to be an old medieval village, but the rest is harder to come up with.

Muz, I know you can get it through Steam now.
The expansion is the same game with a new "understory" weaved through it... there are 4 large new areas (evil abysses) that start popping up throughout the game and a new bigbadboss to contend with. New goodies (armor/weapons), and I just noticed with the v1.04 update, there were new spells too. Also, the expansion adds a split-screen multiplayer mode, extra challenges in the dungeon area, and from what I understand the multiplayer has been upgraded/expanded as well (though I've never played it).
Check out the demo... I swear you'll be hooked! :cheeky:

You DO NOT want to buy the Steam version of Overlord, the "Raising Hell" expansion is incompatible with it.
