I am new to this, but I have gotten the impression that there are more people working on mod for Thief II than T3: DS.
Also, what happened to Iron Storm? Or Looking Glass?
It's a shame the Thief titles are not continuing officially.

Looking Glass folded while working on Thief 2 Gold in 2000. Just last year, Digital Nightfall somehow got his hands on the abandoned missions from a former LGS-er and now there is a (
http://thiefmissions.com/thief2gold/) fan-lead team working on bringing that project to life finally. (Don't be discouraged by the lack of updates since January at their website, it's hosted at Thiefmissions and the site host, (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/member.php?u=11149) epithumia, has been mostly MIA since then.)
Ion Storm (not Iron) folded some time after Thief 3 was released, but we still managed to get the editor after a year of hoping and petitioning. Unfortunately, from what I understand it is very time consuming to make missions for it, so there aren't that many in development, plus as a whole T3 was generally not as well liked by fans as the first two games. So many authors (myself included) have preferred to stick with Thief 2 until (
http://www.thedarkmod.com/) The Dark Mod is complete.

I started on a T3 mission a while ago, but because of the difficulty I had trying to convert my custom models and textures to T3's formats, I dropped it! :o

Did Ion Storm just brought Thief from Looking Glass? Or are they the same team with different names?
Yandros on 21/7/2007 at 11:42
Someone more knowledgeable should answer that, but I know it was a completely different studio, although some of the same developers and performers were involved. For instance, Stephen Russell of course still voiced Garrett, and Eric Brosius still did the music.
As for the "buying" part of your question, Eidos owns the rights for all three and so I presume it simply hired ISA to do T3 since LGS wasn't around anymore.
Muzman on 21/7/2007 at 11:57
Eidos also owned Ion Storm.

Thanks for info.
I guess I ask all these questions because I thought the games were very well done and should still appeal to many people, they might be likely to make profit if they continue to develop Thief games.
Knowing that T3 went on a low price not long after it was released (I brought mine for about £6 from amazon), combine with developer names being different, all these reasons make me wonder what went wrong with the project, and why there aren't no more Thief games.
I guess it over taken by ones such as Splinter Cell, Metal Gear (I personally love that game, but Thief is still better) but I downloaded the Demo last night, tried it, it has got nothing as intense as Thief 1, 2. or 3 offer.
What a shame.

There is no "Thief 3". There is only "Thief: Stabbity Shadows".

I think it was the renderer that really killed Thief 3 and it's modding community (no offence to those working with T3ed, but you have to admit that the T3Ed is dead compared to Dromed 2). Then there is the fact that if you want to make new content to the game, you will have to use a 3d modeling program which you can no longer buy from it's developer, so basically you will have to pirate it unless you ahppen to have a copy of it. It really doesn't help the modders.
