What I'd like to See in Thief 4
There is no right or wrong; this is just my opinion.
I've divided this into sections for an easier read :)
Protagonist
I Saw some old Concept artwork of Garrett in modern clothing - Some of you know what I am referring to. I'd much rather see classic Garrett - The one we know. Also, I wouldn't want Garrett being replaced by the girl in the TDS ending...
Oh, and Garretts Voice acting would be ruined if it wasn't done by Stephen Russell.
Gameplay
I'd feel more familiar with Thief 4 if the controls and movement felt common to Thief 1 and 2. Thief DS's movement seemed too clunky.
Camera
Actually, what do you think of this > 1st person or 3rd?
Personally, I want Thief 4 to be locked in 1st person. There's lots of games that are better in 3rd person, Thief is not one of them. - by locked, I mean there shouldn't be an option for 3rd person, As this ruins the experience.
Story
Something new, but something familiar. Anything completely different from the current storyline would alienate players.
Location
This might be pushing it, but I always fantasized about playing through the entire Thief City, Like a giant sandbox. (the only downside is "attention to detail" may go down as level designers have to work harder) Also, revisiting areas in newer games is always fun. Imagine going back to Lord Bafford's Castle...
Sound
More varied conversations, I guess. Not saying the Thief's dialogue is repetitive, but overhearing conversations and acquiring knowledge is something that could be explored deeper I think.
Music
As long as Eric Brosius makes it, I'm sure it'll be fantastic! I hope there's more tracks to listen to aswell.
Multiplayer
I noticed peoples opinion is mixed on this one. I think it would be nice to have the option to go multiplayer (for those who do want to play it).
And in saying that, I don't think deathmatch would cut it.... I think more of a "Co-op" Mode where you can loot a mansion would be better. Maybe deathmatch would work, i dunno... Opinions?
Factions
Normal Guards & Hammers: minimum. A new faction(s) relating to Thief 4's story would be good too. I prefer...not seeing mechanists.
Graphics
This one's hard for me to give opinion on. What would work best? I really like the 'DromEd' engine used in thief 1 and 2 (especially Thief 1). I guess a custom engine would be good, or perhaps the Unreal engine 4 (the shadow technology looks quite good).
Staff
Yes, Staff. I think using as much Eidos and members from Ion Storm is the way to go(Especially for story and gameplay development.). .....Even though Ion Storm no longer exists.
Platform
I generally game on consoles these days, however, when it comes to Thief, I think PC would be the most suitable way to play.
Release
As much as i'd like to play a new Thief game, I'd rather wait longer and play a good game, rather than get a poor game sooner. 2010 sometime sounds about right.
That's about all I can think of. Thanks for reading my opinions! :D

We already know that it's going to be using the latest tomb raider engine.

I think you mean Looking glass Studios, the company that made Thief 1 and 2. There were a few Looking Glass people at Ion Storm, but my understanding is that a lot of them left early on.

So, the latest tomb raider engine? How did you find out about this?
Looking glass studios! Yes, not sure how i forgot to mention that. Ofcourse, I'd prefer LGS's designers over Ion storm's.

I would like to see the following:
Water we can swim in
A Linux version of the game
levels that are bigger than the average house
Real-time per-pixel lighting (I love it)
body awareness (yeah, I liked it)
3D sound support on more sound cards than the current premium ones
no invasive DRM malware
support for online (coop play)
ROPE ARROWS!!!
levels as great as "Return to the Cathedral" and "The Sword"
guards that can wake up their buddies if they discover said buddies unconscious

Those are some good suggestions there! Especially the last one: guards waking up their buddies

It's the same engine they're using for Deus Ex 3. They're sharing tech.

Grantedly, it's not been officially confirmed (for reasons I fail to understand), but using anything else than what they have in-house expertise with would frankly be scandalous IMO. If it's good enough for DX3, it's good enough for T4.

I would settle for not "Vista only".

body awareness (yeah, I liked it)
I too like looking down to see that I have feet.

I may actually invest a bit if the implementation of sound is suburb.

This kind of thing is going to jam it on Steam.

I prefer they focus on single player.

ROPE ARROWS!!!
The climbing gloves in TDS were fine, it's just YOU NEVER HAD TO USE THEM.

This would definitely add add to the game and encourage players to hide their mess.
