Hey, there. I'm new to these forums as a poster, but I've played Thief since the beginning. Thief: Deadly Shadows is the only Thief game available on Steam. Do you all think it would be a good idea for the first two games to be integrated? We all know the ways to get around the driver problems we encounter with our "modern" computers, but wouldn't it be great if we could just log into Steam and start playing, without having to go through all those shenanigans? Give me your thoughts.

Yeah, an enhanced working Steam version would be pretty cool.

Officially patched versions for modern systems would be great, whether Steam was involved or not.

Subjective Effect's answering seriously so this thread must be legit?? I can't tell the difference!!
Anyway, the games are old enough to be on GOG, which is better than Steam while allowing you to create a Steam shortcut so you get the best of both worlds. If anything, GOG would definitely be my download platform of choice. Patched to run on modern machines, of course.

Hm, I never knew about GOG. I only thought Steam would be good because I use it all the time, and there is already a Thief game on it. But anything that will let us be lazy and still play the game would be great!

Sure, it would be cool if the games were on steam as long as using Steam always remains OPTIONAL. I personally hate Steam, but I'm not one of those fascists who tries to force my beliefs on others (unlike publishers who ONLY release via Steam).
More exposure for the games is always good, I have friends who I've told about Thief and they had never heard of it. These are the same guys who play CS on Steam, but have never heard of GOG... so having it on services they have never heard of wouldn't be as likely to attract attention.

Well, I would imagine that with the games release being emphasized with the prospect of a 1000+ FMs, all of which may have undergone new compression techniques brought about by a source code refinement (Merely speculating)...
Hmm, if Eidos execs were to grow a 2nd pair of arms, they could shake hands with the unpaid undertakers of the source rummaging and suspected enhancement of the original games (Shooting in the dark here...), then we might see not only a multi-platform release, but also an increase in awareness for this large cult classic, and thus bring in a whole new fan community that is more obnoxious than the whole of 4chan...
Wait, that's a horrible idea! Screw the whole thing. :tsktsk:
