Ha, yeah, I figured a few days ago in our internal Dark Mod forums that he was just playing with us and doing it to test our reactions. Oh well.

What? No! I genuinely thought it was a whale until someone on the Dark Mod forums told me it was a face. Then I saw the wrong face. :D
I'm just sticking with the whale now because I prefer it. My brother also thought it was a whale, maybe it runs in the family. ;)

If you go with the whole "whalism" thing, it actually looks more like a parrot than a whale. More fitting too, with the
Parrot->Pirate->Telescope
connection. :p
