I manage a team of software developers, the projects we're working on and the expectations of clients.
On a good day, I even get to write some software myself.

A lot of what people associate with "secret agent shit" is fairly routine
I know that, I was just referring to your intentionally mysterious "Oh I can't tell what I do..." followed by elaborate description of missiles-and-bombs stuff. Which really doesn't even answer the question of this thread - you could've answered simply with "I work in the military / Red Cross / Rent-A-Mule" or whatever it is you actually do :D

I'm with Pyrian. People who should keep their mouths shut about what they do for work usually do. People who drop hints all over the place about doing sensitive shit are usually embellishing or have really bad judgment.

BTW, I'm an engineer. Actually more of a project manager at the moment unfortunately. Since last year, I've been working for a multi-national aerospace company on a big systems integration job. It pretty much sucks actually and is keeping me away from my wife, but the pay is decent and the location is great (when I'm there). Before that, I spent several years as a hired gun working on large projects as a tech lead, software developer, systems engineer, or architect. Before that, a scientific programmer working in meteorology. And before that, a stint as an officer in the USAF following uni & grad school. It's mostly been a good career so far but I'm not digging the transition into management.

Asked me a few weeks ago while I was stateside, or today, and I would have been straight.
Now that we're set, my current job just changed. An SF officer who had worked with me previously just requested that I be reassigned to his team. So now I am working with for him, as part of a small (not even platoon sized) advisory team with a district police chief. My specific job is to be the targeting/intel advisor and introduce them to some basic planning and decision methods, in addition to managing funds.
Its not going to last, though. When I get done here there's no way in hell I'm going back to Artillery. I figure that I can either spend the next five or six years here because there's no other jobs available to people who have just a four year degree, or I can get them to send me to grad school and do the same amount of time after. Only in a much cushier job.

Wherever you're at, stay safe.

And don't spout off your ill informed opinions. Sounds like you work for the type of outfit where people might exchange glances and have you shot.
Draxil on 17/6/2011 at 06:19
If he gets shot, it'll be because he's a hyperinflated, arrogant, self-righteous asshole. By and large, people in the military share a lot of his views. As do I, to an extent. After reading his BS in this thread, I'd shoot him. What a prick. Note to toad: you're not in a bar, you're not going to pick up some hot chick with your pseudo-tantalizing, mysterious braggadocio. Especially since you forgot to drop the word "operative". Go fuck yourself. Asshole.
I'm a registered nurse in the CCU at a 350 bed suburban hospital. I clean up shit (literally and figuratively). Increasingly of late, I've turned into the liason between patients' families and the doctors. We have a cardiothoracic surgeon who is willing to do surgery on anyone with a heart and an ejection fraction > 10%. Most recent case was an 84 year old man with severe COPD, moderate to severe Alzheimer's and a gullible family. For fuck's sake. He'd probably make it through surgery, but for what? He has, per his own FUCKING ADMISSION, Dr. Asshat, lost the will to live, and is just waiting for the end. Why put him through this?
Anesthesiology rocks. Thumbs up, SE.
