i would like to see more exploration type fan missions where you had more area to cover along with more puzzles
seems to me a skilled thief player can run circles around npc's so we need more thinking used to beat a mission
that is why i like the idea of a jail/prison contest cause you have to usually start with nothing and gain everything then figure out how to get out/puzzle along the way and avoiding guard pre blackjack
also think going out side the box should be done more,an example would be starting in the depths of hell and working your way to heaven
also scenic missions with heavy puzzles would be great kinda like the start of kings story but much harder
and this one idea i had was about a long road you have to travel and along the way are small towns, but distance is the goal ,but getting there would be alot hard then it sounds, might have an area you have to build a blim/airplane to pass over a moutain,or a drill to pass through a underground section
ok i stop yapping but there is so much that can be done with thief
i still dream of a futuristic thief mission contest, cardia made a few and they ae great looking i just think with a super deep story it could even be better and somehow link it the the regular thief world
like the feeling we got when we did thief 2 sheriff fan mission that added the view of seeing yourself run by =the feeling was amazing, and stil be using in other ways

Have you played Elsewhere by Belboz or some of John D's missions? I know there are a few other space thief FMs as well. One is even set on Mars (I'm not referring to one of Cardia's FMs).

I have a weakness for mechanist and their technology. And wannabe mechanist too.
So to keep it short; a mission like "The art of thievery", by Richard Cull. Yes it's an old one from 2001, but in my opinion the very best FM ever made.
I think that it's because it fits the story in the metal age so well.

Of course you've got a weakness for their technology because you're wooden you fool! :laff:

Seriously, yep mecanist missions are good. But I clearly like Mages missions ! :) This faction exist in Thief Universe and is not enough present! Longlife to the hand of brotherhood!

I agree Jordan, I even think having a Mages Contest some time would be a nice thing to do. No restrictions other than that mages (not necessarily the Hand) are at the center of the mission.
Iceblade on 13/12/2015 at 18:16
And we still haven't had that Fire contest - though I think with enough entrants an elements contest would be more interesting (Essientially choose an element (or pairing of two) and make a mission around it.

Ho! If we are now talking about kind of contest we would like to see, I though about doing something similar to the word challenge contest at the beginning, but instead of giving numbers that returns words, it would be the rules of a previous contest.
Then a guy who will join will give me for exemple a number like 10, I'll check my list at the 10th line and say what set of rules it was.
Then if 10 was WaterContest, the guy will have the same restrictions of the water contest. Another one say 2, then I check the second line and if I was the 48H contest, the guy will have the same rules of the 48H contest etc.
But I think such contest idea is too... Evil... :ebil: to be applied.
But yeah of course, Fire Contest or Mage Contest could be fun and may give us some amazing missions. :thumb:
But first we need to discover new dromeders to get more futur contestants! xD

I like missions which (1) allow me to blackjack a billion dudes (guards and other humans are my favorite opponents); and (2) allow lots of non-linear exploration (rope arrows; rooftops; secret passages; multiple points of entry to buildings; etc.).
So I'm actually a big fan of (well made) mansion missions (where "mansion" can be any large, multi-story building: a hotel, a bank, a museum, whatever). I know they've been done to death, but for me they're the core Thief experience.
City missions with lots of different shops and residences to break into are always fun.
I dislike missions that force me to ghost (
e.g., undead-heavy missions, many jailbreak missions, missions with lots of bots and few water arrows). I also hate cutscenes, including intros (they just interrupt the gameplay, and I usually don't care about story).
Some of my favorite FMs have been museums, actually—there's just something about the atmosphere of a Victorian museum after hours that feels quintessentially Thiefy. And they haven't been overdone yet.
I'd also love to see something that steps a bit outside of the usual Thief universe, maybe even a real-world setting: a creepy seaside town in Lovecraftian New England, or a big French farmhouse during WW2, or Russia under the czars, or something like that. Of course, that'd probably require a lot of custom texturing and modeling.
How about a university of some kind? A campus of buildings full of libraries and stately wood-paneled lecture halls, a creepy (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_theater) operating theater in the medical building, etc. Loot would logically be scarcer in such a setting (so maybe the mission could focus on non-loot objectives), and you'd need some justification for having guards present (maybe there's just been a murder or something).
Honestly, after 15 years and hundreds of fan missions, it's hard to think of something truly
original without falling into novelty-for-novelty's-sake territory. The FM I most want to play is the FM an author feels inspired to create :)

Big mansion missions. Big town missions, if both together all the better. include rooftops in that and I'm one happy camper. Able to bj without penalty. I don't like it when you have to inspect every nook and cranny for loot. No creepies, no zombies, no tension period lol. I love big castle type fms.
