I voted for the mix here.
Strict reality isn't really a choice, if I assume correctly that the Thief "reality" involves dealing with only normal, human opponents. It wouldn't really be a Thief game, at all.
That being said, where does "reality" draw the line in the Thief universe? Elemental arrows are considered part of reality because they seem to be a known concept to normal society. Keepers, however, are (or were?) fictional to the common person, but very much a part of Garrett's reality.
Hammers and Pagans are part of reality, but does that include the powers of their priests and shamans?
I guess my point is that reality in Thief, to me, means what is possible to the normal citizen.
With rampaging statues and Enforcers and fighting breaking out in the city, the idea of reality is expanded a bit. Still, expanding reality didn't seem to phase citizens when half-living security cameras and servants started popping up. No, you started seeing that technology in every noble's house.
So while mansions and houses were the norm for the average man as far as we know, where has the end of TDS left "reality"?
But then again, maybe I'm overthinking this :D
I would say mixed, but sloped more towards reality. I could do without a bunch of zombies, thank you. I did like the way TDS had zombies (I mean apart from the 'Gale) but they were near other people, so it all kinda meshed nicely.

I always enjoy some fantasy in the thief world, i love those spooky missions with ghosts and zombies, and haunts...but new undead creatures are always welcome.
