There is only one good path for the designers of Thief4:
-The old things from T1 and T2 should be polished(graphics, physics etc.) or just came back(briefings!)
-The story should be continued(while being even more powerful with many plot-twists and Garrett even more gritty;)
-The world's mythology should be even more expanded(bringing us new places, creatures, factions, some more history?The possibilities are unlimited)
-The missions not less atmospheric and immersive! (But immersive gameplay is a Thief's trademark so I believe it won't go wrong)

NEW features? I just want the old ones back!
Specifically:
-Rope climbing...
-First-person-only and a leaning mechanism that was actually useful. I find myself 'cheating' with the 3rd person camera in TDS because it can accomplish what leaning could in TDP/TMA.
-Swimming...
-The old City! None of this generic crud.
Actually, now I come to think of it, there is one new feature I'd like. Body awareness with a first-person-limited camera. How?
I'd love to see the player character totally procedurally animated. So, if you lean around a corner, the camera will move just like in TDP, but your body will lean around the corner, following the camera's movement. So you still have that sense of self-awareness, but the feel of the controls isn't sacrificed.

It would be cool to see some acrobatic stuff, a la Prince of Persia, but less ridiculous. No impossibly long leaps and running-on-walls, but it would be neat to be able to swing on ropes/chains/ladders/what have you, or maybe a wee bit of tightrope style stuff. Kind of like Free Running (or whatever the hell it's called), in a way :)
Day/Night and season cycles in game seem a bit excessive, but it would be cool to see season and weather changes as the game progresses. Like at the beginning of the game it's late winter and snowy, and by the end of the game it's mid-spring and rainy/misty. It would just be a neat, atmospheric thing.
Ooh, you know what else would be cool? MOAR rooftop stuff :cheeky:
And random nekkid people never hurts.

Unless they decide to jump the gun, expect to hear the official announcement around January. Maybe someone else can narrow it down, but it should be about a year from that teaser announcement.

Not quite sure I understand what you mean, but this reminds me of something I thought of! It'd be cool to actually have a garrett model.. Like, if anyone ever played Halo 2, when you looked down, you could actually see your legs and feet. I think that is awesome, and it'd be cool to do that for Garrett I think.:)

If a Thief 4 ever happens I would like everything to be like the first original Thief Dark Project, I think TDP was perfect in every way and the only two improvements I could think of is using a new engine and a up-to date AI.
The U3 engine would be perfect.
I would als like the story countine where TDS ended, I would like to dip deeper into the pagans and hammerites territitory. (No love for the machanists)
However, some other improvements which wouldnt be bad for a new Thief:
* Better AI
(Guards that never go back to normal routine when they saw you or they discovered a corpse, blackjacked guards waking up and sound the alarm..etc)
* Free roaming in the city between missions, in TDS it worked pretty good.
* Rope arrows instead of any other climbing tools. (Gloves are for pansys and old women)
* A few missions outside the ''city'' (not the pagans territory/maw of chaos) just to add something new.
* Active Weather, rain snow etc., snow where oppononets/guards can follow you footsteps in the snow, fog which hides you better....
* And finally, a mission at DAYTIME.
* Disguise (for a mission at daytime. :p )
* A mission or missions in more natural enviroments just for the heck of it. Sure chellanging to hide behind trees. (If they arent treebeasts!)
* The return of the crayman!
* The return of the return of the cathedral. Would love to see the good old hammers big haunted church in a new engine. The abondoned lost city aswell .
Thats all I can think of right now, I am sure I forgot one or two important things. (I ALWAYS forget something!)
