Does anyone know/conjecture when we can expect to hear some info on this? Eidos isn't at Leipzig AFAIK.
Thanks for the info, I already wondered why they sent no invitations. :weird: Apparently they're only in the Business Center, but they haven't anything to show anyway. And unfortunately the GC will be moved from Leipzig due to an alleged lack of noble hotels although no one else wants it to move, but that's a different story...

Don't know if its been mentioned but some enemies with muskets would be cool just to add in a new kind of threat, of course including that the noise would attract more enemies to that location.
The sword for sure, and some sort of rope/vine arrow. I always assumed the rope arrow was fundamentally magical anyway so I don't understand why people make a big thing about it. The magic part makes the vine arrow even more the logical choice so that at least could stay in, if its too hard for some to accept...

Please..no guns. Every freaking game out there has guns. Keep Thief away from all that crap.

They might work almost as an ambient set-piece ... if we're talking about something like 16th century muskets ... they are incredibly inaccurate, mostly just a lot of smoke and a bang, it takes a full minute to re-load them, but practically speaking it's one shot then they charge with the bayonette.
It wouldn't be good if they were standard AI weapon, but there could be individual scenes where it would add flavor.

I think crossbows and halberds would already spice up the AI, plus, it would not be enough to climb on a crate if the guard had a long pointy staff in his hand.

Why didn't anyone tell me about the rope arrow controversy?

Well, TMA had steam-powered robots. Not even subtle robots. Compared to that, I'd rather have rifles like demagogue describes. Of course, not as standard weapons, but maybe for certain characters or special guards.

Not quite sure I understand what you mean, but this reminds me of something I thought of! It'd be cool to actually have a garrett model.. Like, if anyone ever played Halo 2, when you looked down, you could actually see your legs and feet. I think that is awesome, and it'd be cool to do that for Garrett I think.
What I mean is... take TDS. The Garrett model plaed certain standard animations - one for running, one for walking, one for leaning, one for crouching, one for crouch-leaning.
In TDP/TMA, Garrett didn't animate at all (or at least, not much), but the camera moved independantly of his eyes, so you got a sense of motion (like leaning around corners).
What I'd like is a hybrid system. You control the camera like in TDP/TMA, but Garrett's body follows where the camera goes. Instead of just playing standard animations and sticking the camera to the model, the model's spine, neck, legs, etc., would all bend so that the camera was placed where it needed to be. It's basically Inverse Kinematics... searching for that should give you a good idea of what I mean.

One soulution to the free roaming or not debate could be Garrett having to travel to the mission location from his apartment or another point in the city like in Life of the Party. On the way he could maybe buy or find equipment, fence stuff, steal a bit and explore. I dont know if the whole city should be made accessible at that point or only a 'corridor'. If the whole city was accessible then maybe some sort of time restriction could be made. Not a countdown or anything but say the night progressing to dawn making it light and impossible/harder to complete you mission or getting into an estate before the guards change or patrols increase significantly or something like that ?
Iwould also like to see a better control set and some more freedom of movement as some people mentioned like walking on ledges, hanging, shimmying, climbing maybe the ability to hide in the rafters or on a large chandelier possibly? Definitely no parkour of free running type stuff.

I own several black powder long guns, as much as I love to shoot and collect them I think they dont have a place in a Thief game. Would they be realistic? Yes, keep in mind that the first real muskets appeared late 14th century, the troops of Christopher Columbus already used firearms to kill the natives in the island he discovered .
I didnt like the cannons on the metal age robots, and I dont think muskets would be a great eidea either.

And the cannons were steam-powered, too!:D
