What RPG to play... choice of five. - by Digital Nightfall

In New Vegas, I quickly decided that the majority of my perk choices would be the ones that added +1 to your stats. No matter what gimmicks the others offered, none could compare long-term to stat boosts.
Yeah I did like 5 of those. Most of the rest of them seemed worthless, or skippable at best.

It's not as bad in FO:NV, since you get half as many perks and there are more choices, but there mostly wasn't much to go for other than Intense Training in Fallout 3. Most of the other perks were either useless, skill boosts, or VATS-specific

When I said "fixed"... you did figure out the
blatantly obvious point that I wasn't really refering to bugs? Personally, I fully agree with (

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134585&p=2043245&viewfull=1#post2043245) EvaUnit02 on the fact that the game is annoyingly
"populated by 2D cartoon characters and everything is governed by blatantly black and white morality."These things about the game annoyed me when I played Fallout3. So far... I have yet to see a mod or a group of mods for that matter that completely overhauls all of these aspects of the game.
But, by all means, if you know of a mod (or mods) that does... point me in the direction. To put it bluntly, I did not have too great of a time playing through F3. It's not really a bad game per se, but my opinion of it is not really that high as I could easily take it or leave it. But playing NV so far has been a hell of a lot better. It comes off as a more deeper RPG to me (so far... haven't defeated it yet). It has its own share of problems (what game doesn't nowadays?), but nothing along the lines of what F3 had that bothered me.

What happened to Nedan?

Considering the entire context of the thread, how old the game is to begin with, the fact that I actually did mention the words "mod community" & not Bethesda or the fact that I did say I agree with the others here in this thread concerning skipping F3...
Well if it wasn't clear enough for you... then I have nothing else to say on it. But if you wish to continue sniping, then by all means, don't let that stop you.

As far as I am concerned, I recommended that Digi try NV in response to his admission that he just couldn't get into F3. I wasn't claiming that F3 is a lesser game, but it might have something in it that grabs his interest earlier on.

Yeah I'm going to have to say there's a certain je nais se quoi that permeates New Vegas that's missing in most of F3 (some of the DLC notwithstanding, like the Pitt which I thought was excellent.) It feels less like Oblivion with guns fun guns and more like classic Fallout, just in first person. Not that I don't like Falllout 3, but really, New Vegas is far surpassing one of my favourite games, which I find to be a pleasant surprise.

je nais se quoi Are you spoonerising you're French there? Also, unnecessarily throwing around foreign phrases (ciao!) is up there with using "ipso facto" all the time in douche moves.
I personally preferred Fallout 3, just because it was the only time I actually didn't feel like the lack of population was particularly jarring. Megaton, Tenpenny Tower, even Rivet City all felt far more alive than anywhere I visited in New Vegas, which felt incredibly empty. This was especially the case in New Vegas itself, which reminded me a lot of Oblivion's attempts to sell a place as being hustle bustle, but instead just looked like some lonely strippers dancing around on an empty street.
I realise that this is supposed to be a postapocalyptic wasteland, but that doesn't mean that everywhere has to be empty, in fact, I think quite the opposite. Surely if the wasteland is so inhospitable, the areas that are comparibly safe would be jam packed with people seeking refuge, like Megaton's crazy "houses built fucking everywhere" setup. In my experience, making these safe zones far more lively meant that stepping outside of them, and discovering new towns, was a far more significant experience.
I think the other problem that I had with New Vegas was just that I knew what the hell was going on by that point, I remember my first few hours in Fallout 3 being utterly disorienting, and being terrified of leaving Megaton because I wasn't sure I'd make it anywhere without dying.
Although the morality aspects of New Vegas were more nuanced than Fallout 3, and the factions were interesting, I still don't think there was that much grey area, especially in the main storyline. The game makes it pretty clear from early on that Caesar's Legion are just plain evil, and Mr House isn't much better. So you're basically left with the options of going with our without the NCR, who admittedly are a lot more complex than any of the other factions. Outside of the main storyline there are a lot more interesting things going on, I'll certainly give the game that.

Insulting me for making a typo doesn't work when you use "your/you're" wrong, just so you know. Congratulations on making yourself look far douchier than anyone who's ever used a foreign phrase, appropriately or not (and who the fuck are you to judge anyway?)
