I like The Thick of It when I watched it a year or so back, but I don't think I really understood how accurate it was until reading about the Chilcott Inquiry and, particularly, the News Of The World blow up.
I guess I took it as slightly exaggerated for comic effect. But no, it's the truth with creative swearing added in. The relationship of English government and the media is a battleground, their image micromanaged to the member, to the department and to the hour (particularly under Blair).
Realising this and then watching it again recently, it's actually horrifying.

The second episode of X-Files Season 7, "The Sixth Extinction: Part 2", third part of a three-parter and co-written by David Duchovny, has this really surreal, dreamy quality, and some genuine bonding between Mulder and Scully. I liked it a lot.
You can also tell they're starting to take the show's mytharc in a new direction after killing off the Syndicate. Anxious to see where it's going.

2 shows through NetFlix (one mail-only DVD, one streaming): Hung and Parenthood.
If you aren't familiar, Hung sorta reminds me of Californication mixed with the non-medical parts of Nip/Tuck.
Parenthood is a bit like a tamer Modern Family (another excellent show). Honestly, I haven't watched a current Network TV series, let alone 2 (MF and Parenthood), in over a decade. Probably since The Practice...GOD that was a great show. I wonder if it hit DVD?

I found Hung to be a very nothing show. In the first season it couldn't decide on a focus or a tone. I had to give up despite liking the work of some of the leads.

I gave up on disc 2, scots. Just tonight it fell apart before my very eyes. My girlfriend loves it, but I found going into the kitchen and scrubbing the sink and washing clothes suddenly more important.

That's not how you'd have done it, right? :p

A little late to express this, but I'm bummed they dropped Outsourced this season. Heaven forbid Americans should be subjected to a show about life in another country.
Ok it didn't do funny by the book, but it was still genuinely funny IMO and I liked the characters, and I thought it was doing a public service way more important than just ratings just being set in India. NBC should have let it percolate for another season or two, and they have no backbone in dropping it so fast.

Mad Men marathon this Sunday on AMC. Every episode in order through the entire series. Well that just set my weekend agenda.
