Its like they just recorded a typical american family with a few quirks doing typical american things
o rly? That's not the point at all, is it?

It also probably doesn't help that I find all the characters completely unappealing. Skylar (the wife) is just an annoying and controlling bitch... ...her sister is equally annoying in a more of an ADD-retard kind of a way,
Yeah, but you love to hate Sklyar and Hank's wife would get it
so bad don't ask me why I can't explain it but she
just would.

I always liked that they made Skyler fairly unlikable. Making her the sympathetic victim would have been the easy choice. When you think about it though, it's pretty understated. She's not a shrieking shrew and she usually ends up with the moral high ground by default (I mean in the situations where she's even cognisant of what's happening, not because we know Walt is secretly a bad man).
And I do think Hank and Marie were calculated to be that american TV couple of chubby rambunctious alpha male and his trim housewife. I've forgotten how long it takes but where they take the two of them and how they develop is some interesting stuff. The whole thing of Walt's kind of male envy due to Hank always being the real man, while he's just the nerdy science guy is great. Plus we learn Hank's coping is as much a front as anything else too, even that he didn't realise it himself. The way the boys club of the force mostly avoids him after it seems he can't hack it anymore is nice (which is also partly his own doing too). If you've ever wanted to see the cliche American male laid low then this is the show for you, actually.
I didn't care for the whole klepto thing either, but it wasn't too distracting. Besides, no one really had any time to be too quirky in the period after that. Apparently it makes a reappearance in S4 so we'll have to see how that goes.

Re-watching The Wire, Scrubs
Watching Breaking Bad s4 -agreed with Muzman about Skylar. I really like where they're trying to go with the whole car wash/front thing right now. Hank and Marie have just now gotten interesting and there's all kinds of crap preparing to hit the fan with Gus and Mike. I think they're setting up the rest of the season nicely.
Trying really hard to get into Mad Men but I just can't seem to care about any of those assholes. Digging the BBC's Doctor Who but it's more a clinical interest than love right now.
Trying to hang on: Weeds, Modern Family, The Office

Let's see... On DVD I've just finished watching Chuck Season 3. I'm currently in the middle of re-watching Stargate SG-1 Season 8, Stargate Atlantis Season 1 and Knight Rider Season 3.
As for downloads, I'm trying to absorb myself in some more Japanese "Tokusatsu" shows, mainly a couple of Kamen Riders. Also re-watching the pure concentrated awesomeness that is Garo.
God I'm such a geek...

Atlantis unlike SG1 got better with every season. Will never understand why they cancelled it. Universe was just starting to get good when they canned that too. So annoying.

I actually haven't seen anything of Atlantis Seasons 4 & 5, and most stuff from the first 3 I've watched probably once, so there's a lot of it that I don't really remember. That's why I'm rewatching from the beginning, so it'll all be fresher in my mind when I do finally get around to watching Season 4.

season 5 of Babylon 5.
I wish it were as good as the rest of the show, from what I read they expected to end with the 4th season but got renewed and had to work with another seasons after a lot of the plot threads had already been resolved.
I also just finished SG-1, and thought the very last episode was bad. Kill off the Asgard, okay, that was a long time coming and resolved it nicely, but pushing a giant reset button on the character development of the episode was a pretty halfassed way to end a ten-season series.

I'm marathoning my way through the Sopranos. Not really liking the new episodes of Breaking Bad, they're really rather slow and dull and don't seem to be picking up.
