You weren't holding a weapon were you? (Or does that only count in the first two
Thief's?):erg:
In the first Thiefs the AIs most certainly do not notice if you have a weapon out.

The Kurshok are sealed in and Garrett only got through via a Keeper glyph.
Which makes no sense. I mean, the Keeper Door Glyph keeps anyone from passign through. So how did Gravit (the Kurshok that was locked up in Stonemarket) get out? And how did the Pagans and Rat Beasts get in? The only possile explanation I could see is that there's another entrance somewhere.
As for why no one ever discovered Kurshok... well... I guess that one could be explained by saying that after the glyph door, there was a larhe network of tunnels Garrett had to get through to arrive there.

True, but that's one of the changes I actually kind of like - although it seems that if you loaded up a fire or gas arrow, it did lighten the light gem a touch. Not sure if I've ever tested the reaction of the AI to that specifically though...
Gotta say - I'm playing through T3 with the minimalist patch installed and enjoying the HELL out of it. It's still not pure LGS magic, but holy shit what a great idea for a game.

I always enjoy it in Thief Gold when I'm standing there in front of a servant with my blackjack out, and they run away yelling "He's got a bow!"
Funny stuff.

Nope, I don't have any weapons in hand, but when I try to sneak past them, they spotted me because of the light from the campfire nearby.
And now my next WTH moment is, WHAT on earth is that huge beast trudging through the sewer?!!
I was crouching along the wall in the darkness, came to that intersection where the sewer opens out into a long, cavernous tunnel, and crouched there for about 3 long minutes staring open-mouthed at that monstrosity.
It felt like Thief had turned into Doom or Quake or something. :weird:

Get used to him. You will meet him again in the mission. He is a close relative, if not the same, as those you will meet in TDP/GOLD if you play it through.
However, in TDS he is a weak sister compared to the original model, and he (TDS) is as blind as a bat. HINT HINT HINT. He also BREATHES. HINT HINT HINT.

I believe its one of the "new" treebeasts, which first appeared not in TDP(G), but in TMA and for such a brief moment that its quite possible to miss them entirlely (like I did the first time through). The "good old" treebeast do still manage to creep me out more than haunts do, But in TDS they sort of lost their appeal.

I didn't. I was sneaking through that damn forest and happened to lean up against one to try and remain in the shadows.
I knew something was wrong when the tree started making noise.
I won't recall what happened at that point, but I will say that whenever I go through that part now, I chug a speed potion and gun it :p

I don't remember the treebeats in Gold... where were they?

Re-read Emerald's post a little more carefully.
