Well, with regards to the blood sacrifice, I dumped a body on the dark stone just below the Paw (above the symbols), and then I use a dagger to hack at the poor fellow till blood comes out.
I've already shot both water and moss arrows at the respective spots, the Taproot only hisses ONCE if I remember. It's that point where the damn tree beast hears it and runs around looking for me, and even if I wait at the entrance of the cave, he eventually finds and kills me.
I'll try to kill the beast with my broadheads...now the only problem is finding a good spot to do it...*grumbles at why Garrett gets himself in these situations*
Oh, the last time I did the explosive mine, that was back at the start of the sewers where you meet the first beast, well I was sat atop the platform where I just killed Leafer (he fell into the water below LOL), so I threw a mine down and then the beast comes trudging, and the mine went off as it walked over it, but it didn't hurt the beast at all. From then on I was convinced that explosives do not kill tree beasts.

You do know there's a dead pagan near the entrance to the basement, dont you?
I just carried that sorry fellow and dumped him on the reddish symbol while the beast wasn't close by.
And mines do kill tree beasts. They just make a hell of a noise

You might retry the individual spots again. It's supposed the music makes a weird noice each time you get one right.
Generally what I did was hang out in the corner off to the left, wait until the beast was on the back side walking around, then fire my elemental arrows at their respective spots from the safety of the dark.
For the blood, I did the same thing godofgamers did... kill the pagan in an earlier area so he wouldn't alert the beast. Then when the beast was in the back half on his patrol, run out and dump the body, grab the body and book it back to the dark corner. You have to be quick... you may have to run out to a shadow after he passes, then wait until he makes it around the backside before you make the final run to the altar.

I've got no problems with the body - I killed the Pagan that was guarding the entrance to the Taproot and lugged his body all the way to the altar. The treebeast is blind (thanks to the Blackman for this hint), so the only error that could have happened was either I stood too close to his path of patrol and he detected me, or the noise from the Taproot, etc.
I'll try again tonight though, thanks ;)
