Three or four years ago, Schwaa had a semi-working sweel complete with motions, but I don't know if the mesh/skin was an LGS leftover he found in the CRFs, or if he made his own.

Like i said, the Oringal Bug beast IS in Thief Gold (you can see it in the Blooper reel fighting the final BugBeast).
I don't know if the Orge file is around BUT a fan has done a good attempt of making it (the Skin does appear in the files and i'll be happy to post that here if needed)

It's ogre, not orge. That concept art doesn't look like a rat OR a monkey. :laff:

The files for the ape/ratbeast showed in the first post are still in game.
The texture is called
MONKEY.gif and the model is the same as the "new" ape/ratbeast.

monkeyg.gif with
MONKEY.gifInline Image:
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/199/grabby2.jpgIt look's almost exactly the same as the old picture jtr7 showed, doesn't it?
(The ape/ratbeast is slightly deformed because I edited his motions to make him stand straight.)
But I could be wrong.

Chest texture looks a little off but other then that, 100% match down to the badly formed shoulder ^_^
Oh and sorry about the Ogre spelling problem.. another fault with my typing is i go too fast so once in a while i pressed down the wrong finger a second or so too early.

Heh, it looks like he's got a massive grin on his face.

Yes, and we already know that Thief: Gold has some left over assets for multiplayer. And as we also already know, thief 2 had enough multiplayer code in it which has allowed there to be a T2 multiplayer! :cheeky:
How much left over assets are there? Can it be compared to the amount of assets left in Thief 2? If yes, then maybe someone could try to build a Thief Gold Multiplayer mod, eh? :)

A bit of a guess here but i would say there isn't as much. They wanted it for Thief but things happened and they couldn't get it working/didn't have enough time. For Gold, they might have had a bit more time but still not enough as with Thief 2 is seams they tried a bit harder still but again, didn't have enough time to complete it all.
I think it's pretty clear that they COULD get it working if they had enough time because, well, 1 person pretty much alone has gotten it pretty far, so a team of people that created the engine, should have been able to get it farther.

Yeah, but we're talking a time span of 1998-2000. Thief TDP came out in '98, then surely they had to move onto gold and thief 2. They were rushed by Eidos I believe, and they simply didn't have the time to worry with multiplayer so it got axed. I can't say I blame them, but I'm glad there was enough code in thief 2 for Tos to create multiplayer :)

I honestly wouldn't know for sure as I'm not a programmer, but I can say that there is a lot less code in Gold than in thief 2 judging on just the files and within dromed itself. You could ask Tos yourself if you want. I already brought up the idea of Thief Gold multiplayer, and he turned it down for basically that reason I think, so I guess there is your answer.

Thanks for that clarification.
