What will become of post-Theif 3 games, if they even come to be? - by godofgamers

One can also wonder whether in RL some people automatically bite another person's head off for asking a question that was asked three weeks previously? In RL, most normal people end up avoiding unpleasant people (unless said normal person is a masochist & that's another story).
EGGZAAAAAAAACTLY!! One of the points I was trying to make. Nail on the head!

In response to Goldmoon Dawn's question about my thread opener, I can't even find the question, could you post it again, please?

I just didn't bother with the "hi im new (witty splatter)" newbie thread and stepped on in in a most glorious fashion!
Then good for youTTK! I mean it! I've just kindof barged (or blundered, depending on your POV) my way in. At first rather innocently; lately, there are times when I start to scare myself. ;)

However, unwritten TTLG Forums policy now forbides me to enjoy birthday threads.
The hell you say! That's not right! Thanks to Marecki (who shall ever remain near & dear to my heart) I was fortunate (again, it could go either way POV-wise) to have a b'day thread started in my honor. I was thrilled, embarassed, scared shitless, and finally ended up in a fetal position under my desk since I managed to crash & burn (yeah, that's right - in my own b'day thread) and my face was red for days afterward.
Thanks GBM. You made the point I'd been hammering at seemingly to no avail (you too, Neil). We can keep this part of the forums free of the nasty type of flaming if we want (though teasing is fun and something I think a lot of us enjoy) (oh; and a little smartassism (I just made that up) doesn't hurt as long as it
really doesn't hurt). Orrrrr - we could just ignore the nasty flame-type posts. And, casting no aspersions on anyone's character, mind you; those members that have less patience with new members simply don't have to bother with posts that might make their heads explode & cause them to start reaching for their flamethrowers. You guys
know there'll always be hapless newbies posting 'Hi-I'm new here' threads in ComChat, so why sharpen your claws here? No, I'm not trying to force 'rules' down anyone's throat - just making suggestions. Really.
I like visiting ComChat; it can be interesting, informative, and wacky as hell. But it's nice to know I can come back to the Thief forums where I won't get my ass flamed off because I made a stupid mistake or posted something absolutely newbie-sounding; and where people do seem to go out of their way to be nice and helpful (which, in all fairness, does happen in ComChat too, on occasion). It really is like a breath of fresh air here sometimes.
I've just read my own post & having decided I sound like an overly-saccharine, flippin' goody-two-shoes-suzie-sunshine-wanna-be, I will now go stand in the corner & flame myself for awhile until I come to my senses.
But I'm not erasing a thing, so there. :cheeky:

I can tell this is going to be a fun forum experience...
Welcome to TTLG...enjoy your stay. :ebil:

The sixteenth post in your thread. I was serious. Metal Dawn gave her answer, but you never got to it, because of the ensuing skirmish. I was honestly just curious as to what you thought that was.
My post was not connected in *any* way to Metal Dawn's posts...

And I wish people would rather learn to deal with their problems on their own, instead of crying for cencorship as soon as somebody says something that they don't want to hear or like.
But if you join a group of any kind (discussion, bridge, soccer) in real life, there are certain standards of behavior and a way to mediate/control members who make a pain of themselves. This is a moderated forum, not a democracy. Insisting on a certain level of decorum is NOT censorship.
ZylonBane posts all over the place with what he thinks of as "wit," but his sarcastic, caustic, unnecessary rudeness is really just bitchery. Why it is tolerated, I dunno, except apparently the moderator has been having some problems. Too bad. (I don't mean to single ZB out here, as he's hardly the only one, but this thread was a perfect example of these types of posts.)
Now you know why I don't post here regularly, if at all. But folks, if the "no-percentage-in-this-for-me" lurker is saying something needs to be done, you might be well advised to listen.

For me, in the end I always end up laughing. Could be worse.

We are currently trying to determine who would make a good replacement for Zaphod (as he is unavoidably tangled in his real life and can't really be expected to function as well as he used to), but you have to understand that Dave and I look around ThiefGen for candidates and can't really find any because the general vibe of things isn't helping point anyone out.
Yay, it's like "The Lottery" only we get picked as a mod rather than stoned to death! :D

That sounds far too painful. I never knew mods suffered so til now. I always thought being a moderator was kind of like being a teacher in pre-school. I could never do something like that; I'm far too bitchy and bossy. But I can empathize.
Do we get to vote? Sorry, forgot this wasn't a democracy. ;)
I totally agree with you, Thiefkiller. But don't stay away, please. We need more involvement from members like you.

Well, suppose you are in RL entering, let's say a chess club. Guess what people will think of you if you come along and ask questions about the spanish opening as if you just had this idea for the first time. Not that this opening is already covered in hundreds of books, or that you can assume that there are experienced players in such a club, which probably have heard everything you can come up with, a hundred times. You just present your musings as if they were the top of the notch. And not you, just about every new member does this. I can see how you would be a laughing matter in no time. But the difference is - in RL you wouldn't do this, because if you know that you know not much you would most likely be shy and feel your way around before you actually start something like this. But in the internet it's easy, because everybody is just waiting for yet another guy asking the same question over and over again, and doesn't bother to do a search, because everybody is just there to answer such questions. How about a bit of tolerance for the members as well? That doesn't go one way, you know?
