What will become of post-Theif 3 games, if they even come to be? - by godofgamers

I think you'll probably learn quite quickly who to take seriously and who you can safely ignore.

remaining keepers will unite under Garett ... he will take his place as the One True Keeper.
Garett or Garrett ? At least fix that ...
IMHO, Garrett will always be the One True Thief with no desire to be a keeper. He waits patiently until the story and cutscenes take him back to the good old days of TG before all the raucous.

I certainly didn't get this treatment when I joined. But then, I don't come here very often.
I DO think it's appropriate to mention ettiquete. There are posting rules, after all. If you feel slighted in the real world, what do you do? People have the right to post opinions, but then, insults are not opinions. And, people have the right to feel insulted.

Nor did I, but I stayed out of ComChat, chose a boring alias, and didn't ask questions that had been asked a thousand times before. Since the thread was already way off topic, it gave me an excuse to use the partied-out greyhound picture in an attempt to lighten things up. I guess it didn't work, but I tried.

I go somewhere else. What do I win? ;)

I'm not sure of your point here. Feelings just happen, colored by your past experiences and beliefs. The choice of how to act on feelings and circumstances is what matters.
Some forums I visit show useful info in the avatar, like who has contributed money to the forum and how many times the mods have warned the person about his/her behavior. They don't do it here, but it might help new members get oriented.
Bottom line, we're all remotely interacting about a game, so nothing that happens in here matters much. Do we need a big "FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY" sign when you log in?
Good fortune,
Don

It wouldn't do any good.

I agree. Also, the choice of how to express a feeling/opinion/whatever and keeping in mind how that statement will be taken is important, I reckon.
Anyway, to quote Steven Grant:
Quote:
You know what talking smack is. It's insulting other people for the sake of insulting them, to show you're cooler than they are. It's talking tough. Lots of it in movies, on TV shows, in music (especially a particular style of rap, immortalized in the film 8 MILE). Used to be Gary Cooper was the ideal: keep your mouth shut, take action when necessary, but only when necessary. Now it's still the Stallone/Schwarzenegger/Willis paradigm: it's not good enough to be tough, you have to shoot your mouth off about how tough you are. It's the pro wrestling promo as worldview...If you've ever met genuine tough guys, they don't advertise it, they don't care who knows about, they don't talk about it. They just deal with what they have to and get on with their lives. All the growing acceptability of talking smack has done is made society noisier and nastier. It's all hyperbole: just noise. What do I care how tough anyone says they are? Why would anyone take their word for it? Anyone can say anything about anything.
Fact is that talk's cheap, and hyperbole destroys the meaning of language. Which is what some people want, for words to mean anything they want. Hyperbole's all around us, trying desperately to take the place of substance. Who needs it?
Rule of thumb: if you're genuinely tough you don't have to talk about it. If you have to talk about it you're not tough. So shut up with the smack talk. It's boring. --Steven Grant, Permanent Damage, Feb. 23, 2005

I refuse to believe that "8 Mile" immortalized anything.
aviasvr on 21/1/2006 at 05:29
Personally, I believe 8 mile will be at the bottom of every dollar-DVD discount bin in 10 years. Now THAT'S immortalized!

Well, I certainly did not post a topic that has been made a thousand times, this one was made only 3-4 times. Now, if I had posted, "Why d0n+ w3 h@v3 @v@+@r$???", please flame me all you want.

OK, godofgamers. This is running it's course. Time to start coming up with some new stuff!
godofgamers on 21/1/2006 at 23:24
For once I agree with what you're saying
