What will become of post-Theif 3 games, if they even come to be? - by godofgamers

As far as dealing with their problems, that's one of the reasons the Thief forum is here, right? To help members, regardless of whether or not they're new to the forums, with problems & issues regarding the games?
With problems I meant "How to interact with people 101". It seems as if "THE INTERNET" is regarded as some kind of out-of-the-world thing, that doesn't really exist. Obviously it is operated by people. I wonder how poeple react in similar situations in RL. Do they shout for the Big Censor to come and fix the situation?

Even just posting a shortcut to a pre-existing thread in which that same question was asked & answered is better than getting mean and abusive just because it's a repetitive thread posted by a new member.
Come now. This sounds good on paper, but *every* board I read handles this in the same way. Even the Food Network board gets irritated by this!
The point isn't the need to drive people off. The point is use your brain! Almost every board I read (many many) has a SEARCH button. If you are really that interested in your subject matter, you would investigate your options before blind posting.
Opinions vary.
I think that TTLG is a finely tuned machine *because* of the Mods.

One can also wonder whether in RL some people automatically bite another person's head off for asking a question that was asked three weeks previously? In RL, most normal people end up avoiding unpleasant people (unless said normal person is a masochist & that's another story).
I was merely wishing the moderators would remind some older members not to be so quick to jump down new members' throats for making a mistake. It's not like I called the cops for cryin' out loud.

I know I didn't & my jaw hit the desktop when an older member tore into me for starting a new thread. If it hadn't been for a moderator intervening, I probably wouldn't have returned due to extreme humiliation.
k, I'm tired of arguing.

...a little more tolerance on behalf of raw newbies. I don't think every single forum on the TTLG site
has to be a perilous gauntlet for each new member to run; nor does each forum have to be a rite of passage via trial by fire.
I've been hearing a lot about this lately. Don't know what to think about it yet, but I managed to (

TTLG the big bad monster! If you genuinely love LGS you're in the right place. Shut up and drive. :p

That was five years ago. Things have changed around here - obviously.
I like it here; I'm staying. :p :p

Mr. Potato Head, I wasn't disputing the 100,000 post thing. I was saying that there is no need to search all 100,000 posts...
Guys, my older brother called me this a lot when I was growing up. :cheeky:

In the past, the only real work moderators had to do on the dedicated game forums was to help out by deleting redundant posts, moving things where they belonged, and generally acting as one of the more consistently interactive members.
Things have, obviously, changed somewhat... and it's six of one thing / half a dozen of the other. ThiefGen's listed moderators are, on the whole, not as active as David and I would like given what ThiefGen has been drifting towards. But they wouldn't need to be as active as that if ThiefGen wasn't drifting that way.
Besides, our general policy is to expect that the membership at large is old enough, smart enough, and sensible enough to determine the tone of the boards they frequent. But if people are going to shit in the corner, the room is going to smell, yeah?
We are currently trying to determine who would make a good replacement for Zaphod (as he is unavoidably tangled in his real life and can't really be expected to function as well as he used to), but you have to understand that Dave and I look around ThiefGen for candidates and can't really find any because the general vibe of things isn't helping point anyone out.

Hey come on!
All he wanted was his damn newbie-choppin' axe. :p

We already knew he wasn't new to forums in general. Every single member at this joint walks alone. I wasn't helping Zylon get his newbie-chopping axe. I was merely sharpening it for *him*. You see? :) Hey, I thought godofgamers was working on some really good, solid stuff! The way Metal Dawn was going on and on about irony, yet godofgamers was clearly being ironic the entire time was fantastic. Something went wrong thou, I think it was when 'ol Zylon went from Blasphemy to Friendly.
:wot:
And btw, godofgamers, if you're out there somewhere, I still want the answer to my question about your thread-opener. :)

I just didn't bother with the "hi im new (witty splatter)" newbie thread and stepped on in in a most glorious fashion!
However, unwritten TTLG Forums policy now forbides me to enjoy birthday threads. Oh well.
