Over a decade ago we had a "DromEd Beauty Contest".
This was well before NewDark and it's enhancements, but produced some excellent little experiences.
It'd be awesome to see that idea revisited with NewDark - I bet we could see some amazing stuff.

Maybe some online poll?

Here are some ideas:
1) A "modern day or futurist thief contest". There are already two missions out there (TROB 1 and 2, the Batman Demo and the Kill Factory-series). These missions are a good example that FM's could prove classic Thief stealth elements in a modern setting. Said missions are hard and require stealthy gameplay, because the enemies in these missions are eqipped with firearms or even with lasers. :cheeky:
2) Use only one or two texture families in a misson - Contest (loot and other objects not included)
3) Vertical Contest ( just like in the DarkMod) i.e. climbing a mountain, a tower mission, deep caves etc. Use the maximum of vertical distance in dromed.
4) No AI - Contest: Create an FM without any AI's.
5) Dewdrop - Contest: a hommage to our always loved cute puppet

Although it has been a significant part of Thief in all 3 games as well as a major theme of many FM's we have never had an Escape from Prison contest.

What happens if you don't find Dewdrop along the way?

There have now been over 20 ideas for the next contest suggested in this thread, the main ones being:-
Daylight contest
Choose your own adventure
Total Crap 2
Modified FM contest
Exotic location / Ancient ruins
Alarm trigged contest
Thief 2 gold contest
Tomb raider contest
Time limited contest
Lost places (prison,factory,cathedral,castle or village)
Escape the Maw
Single objective
Find Dewdrop
Vertical contest
No AI's contest
Futuristic contest
Prison escape
I suggest that we leave this thread open until the end of the month (1 week to go) to get the last of the ideas in and then have a poll to choose the theme of the next contest.
I would suggest everybody should be allowed a 3-5 votes with the poll being open until the end of march with the winning theme being announced on April 1st.
However I do not know how to open and run a poll on this forum so if someone such as Tannar, Nickie & Al_B could help the poll could be run in the most efficient way.

I was going to start up a "Lost Places" contest (which also includes exotic locations/ancient ruins) as soon as the Strange Venture contest was finalized and a winner was announced. That seemed to be the popular choice in the first couple pages of this thread.
But sure, if you want to rig up a poll and get an official vote, let's do it. I believe starting a poll is as easy as checkmarking the "Post A Poll" option when you start up a new thread (although it's been a while since I've done one).

Well I'm up for a lost places as that would have been one of my choices if there was a poll, but if you start such a contest would you define up front what constitutes a lost place? would you include lost civilisations, temples, ancient tombs or would it be strictly for more contemporary buildings such as palaces, cathedrals, factories, docks etc.
As for running a poll, I knew I had seen something on the forum that you needed to do to open a poll but hadn't thought about opening a new thread to check that option out.
Are others happy with a Lost Places contest? Or is there a desire for a poll on the choice, but we can always have a poll next time if there is no clear first choice.
We should also keep this thread going for the next 12 months and add new ideas for the next contest, after all we regularly open threads about ideas for contest and then those threads seem to get lost, having a semi-permanent thread on the subject would mean good ideas don't get lost in the blue cyber fog of TTLG.
