There was also a Colour suggestion which I rather liked.
Could we have a no Dewdrop contest? :)
Yes you can do a poll for a thread as Brethren says but I'm not sure how many options you get. I'd be reluctant to ask Al_B to sort out a special poll for this as it involves database work and isn't straightforward. If you want to experiment, fortuni, then use the WIP.

I like a lot of the suggestions here, but my favorite so far is the lost places idea. But it doesn't really matter in which order we use these suggestions as long as they all get used eventually.

Well I'm up for a lost places as that would have been one of my choices if there was a poll, but if you start such a contest would you define up front what constitutes a lost place? would you include lost civilisations, temples, ancient tombs or would it be strictly for more contemporary buildings such as palaces, cathedrals, factories, docks etc.
I like the broadness of a Lost Places contest - it really has unlimited possibilities. I'd say any of the stuff you have listed above would be OK. Earlier in the thread, it was referred to as a "Non-City" contest. It could be any place that is abandoned, run down, and preferably distant or remote, away from civilization. That's not to say that the place in question isn't currently occupied, but it's likely not by the original people that lived there. Think Inverted Manse or From Beneath The Sands or even Dark Messiah.
That said, I agree, we should get something moving here soon, by the end of the month sounds good. No offense to Strange Ventures, but it seems to be dragging on and I'm not sure when it will actually end.

The final entry is coming out any day now I believe.

How about a Word Contest 2 ? :)
(With more finished missions this time :P )

I don't see why we couldn't start organizing the next contest regardless of whether Strange Ventures was concluded or not. It has dragged on long enough like Brethren side. Besides, it's not like the two contests would interfere with each other in any possible way.

if you don't find dewdrop in a mission and he is there it's like getting a curse
and NO we may not have a contest with no dewdrop
things i love to find/hear in a fan mission = dewdrop, intruder painting,a dog barking somewhere in mission if there is a outside area/through a door to the outside,i also like to see the ctfr 14 or 15 in mission=stained glass, and since we lost the creator of seven sister i also would love to see that red loot bag that was in i think the second mission when you rescue the baby burrick from the butcher, the lady gives you this amazing deep red loot bag, that needs to be in more missions.
there is another couple thing i noticed also in 2 missions so far,the hanging man stained glass i like to see,it was in chalice of souls and some other mission, and another little painting in the same frame as intruder but the picture is a circular castle structure kinda mc escher style
one day maybe we could have a surreal contest that would be great playing on maps that seem like real life but there is a twist like twilight zone, night gallery, outer limits, one stp beyond/etc

Why don't we just use an external polling website like Google, Doodle, etc. ?

I'm just brainstorming here:
* A modern setting: Garrett has been time-warped into the modern era. Maybe he finds himself in a suburban neighborhood, a dense city, or anything in between. But he only has his regular tools and weapons.
This would require a lot of custom assets - many of which aren't available in ready-to-use form - so maybe it's not a great idea. Creating all those custom assets might detract from gameplay.
* An archery-focused mission: Garrett has no sword, but he *does* have a bow, and kills are allowed. It'd allow for any theme and setting, and could make for some interesting level design.
* Pick a large real-world building, and let each author come up with their own interpretation and plot inspired by it. Missions wouldn't have to be faithful to the real-world floor plan - just the general structure and layout.
* A puzzle-oriented mission with no AI, based heavily on (
https://jayisgames.com/tag/escape) room escape games. Garrett finds himself in room (or small suite of rooms), and must decipher codes, interpret clues, find objects and figure out how to use them, figure out combinations, find hidden switches, etc. This would require a lot of scripting and some careful testing to make sure the puzzles aren't too difficult or arbitrary.
